Meme or not if you filter out racial slurs and "trap" you will see maybe 2 posts in chat every 10 minutes.

When the hell did video games become such a toxic place. I remember when this was usually a single zone in these games, not game wide chat 24/7.

I got to agree with op I rarely use chat but when I glance at it 95% of the time its people calling other people "traps". I heve played alot of mmo's and ya some can be some what toxic but to me this games chat is the worst I've seen.
The best way Not to see the trash chat is do what the other posts say and block/filter the chat, and for the love of god don't feed them!

I have seen worse chats in other games but it usally stops after a certain time when all the kids go away after they are board. The thing with chat now you got to remember is steam just released it so the cycle started over give it time and it will die down alil but there will always be crap like this. Hell look at steam in every single game forum they are toxic as hell 90% of the time. The internet is a funny place.

But Dota 2 isnt any better, is it ? Not entirely sure as I only played it abit, unlike LoL.

However, LoL was a much more comfortable place, before it was cool.
Trust me, I played the game since the start and it was so much more enjoyable back than, especialy a F ton less tryharding/meta and more about having a blast rather than a chore.

As others have said turn off roleplay chat. Job done.

I have no idea why it is enabled by default. There is far too much player information turned on by default to the point of spamming people blind, both in chat and notifications. I would say rp chat here is up there with the worst i've seen yes, not the worst but up there. It certainly isn't the first chat i've ever turned off in my life though and I doubt it'll be the last. It also isn't the only global channel you have so *shrug*.

If you hate the idea of not seeing a chat, put it on tab 4 or something.

Turning off chat was the first thing I did. Not because of anything written there but because it fills up quite a big part of the screen with completely unnecessary text.

Its not the games, its the current generation of 12 to 25 year olds. Back in my day*yes yes, I AM aware of how that sounds and I AM old enough to be a dad to many of you* my parents would tear me a new one if I pulled what kids today pull.

The "you can't touch me I'll call 911 on you" generation is spoiled. If I ever told my mother that, she would say, fine, I'll beat you until they get here.


The government got involved in how parents can raise kids, when truth be told, the fear of a good old fashion ass whooping with a belt will cure a vast majority of these social issues today.

ESO, SWTOR, Runescape and PlayersUnknown don't have toxic communities at all. SWTOR has one of the most welcoming and helpful communities I've seen so far and I know this from experience and ESO and RS aren't far off. You need to get off the bandwagon of calling everything toxic.

BDO specifically has an extremely toxic community because of how over-the-top and competitive the game is.

Not to forget the complete lack of any meaningful social interactivity that gets people to do something together and profit on both ends or just making friends.

From the listed games I can only mention ESO: There are daily repeatable quests that require you to have a party. So you use the – sometimes quite buggy – group serch and you'll get yourself into a random built group for this challenge. You work together with strangers, you go through this together and possibly make some new friends.

In BDO? In more than a year playing I was grouped one single time, and that was a newbie who wanted my help in killing their scroll boss. And for other interaction there's only the auction house, there are the world bosses, but that's it. No public looking for group necessary, no way to help each other crafting, etc. The BDO community is – to some extend – anti-social, but you can't really play the players, because the game forces it. And yes, if you're a social player, interact with others, etc. then please ignore this statement. I didn't want to include you here.

I've never seen people in LoL say the N word this much, killing and talking about Jewish cremation before, bestiality, screwing their family members, having sex with kids and other stuff. Turn off chat? Sure, but honestly there should be a GM or a few to watch over and chat ban people.

It'll solve a lot of problems and going 'hide chat' only masks it, imo people should be punished for all that bullsht on there regardless of the filter and iIrc, it costs energy to report? and there's a lot to report. League was toxic because that games competitive and a bit stressful but they also have the Tribunal.

It costs items actually. Ive tried to report some of the most horrid ♥♥♥♥ ive ever seen in a video game and was greeted with the "There is no item" prompt. Knowing how this game is run im sure its an item you need to buy in the microtransaction store.


LMAO it is a cash shop items. Its called a "deputy token", looks like they've been "developing" it for over a year now and you still cant buy it. Want to know why this game has such horrible chat? You literally cant report anyone.

Yes i know what you mean try .. could not even get this game to get past the server screen as asjusting the default settings expecially to full screen breaks the game and im not findling with settings mnually just to get this POS to work . got better things to do with my time and games to play that work stright out of the box..

You asked on rp chat I would wager, this was your first and by the looks of it last mistake. :) There are 2 other global channels that will better serve you for any questions.

I would personally just run it windowed and probably solve your problem with vsynch or some such, which is the usual cause of full screen woes in games.
