Never mind, the film is already on the film reel... it's just invisible. And in case anyone else gets stuck, if you see the message about needing to power the projector and rewind the film then don't worry about the power: the message is misleading, there is no need to power the projector. All you have to do is rewind the film, by turning the crank on the lower reel anticlockwise a few times (you'll know you've done it enough because the camera will automatically leave the detail view).

Yeah, I thought I needed film too since the reel I placed on it had no film in it.
