Unknown folder containing screenshots from Everything
Hi all!

Messing around with the info in my hard drives I found something strange that made me worry. I found a folder structure that I know I've never created. Googling a bit, I found a discussion from october 11th of 2019 with the exact same issue: the Steam user "Bumblebeebs" published a disscussion with the exact same title I just wrote explaining the next:

"I found a folder on my external hard drive in the directory Z:\Users\David\Desktop\_CAPTURE\ containing two folders named "x_img" and "x_screens". My installation of Everything is also on this hard drive that I installed from the Epic Games Store. I didn'... "

Well, in my case, the drive is not "Z" but I have the exact same folder structures with secuential screen captures of this game during the main presentation on them. My Windows user name is not "David" and I never wanted to take a screenshot during the game, at least consciously. I also noticed a very low graphic performance during the presentation but i thought it was a bad graphic configuration.

I tried to see the discussion answers to this problem because it made me thing like I have been hacked and trolled by "David" and now I'm thinking that my system is not safe, but I can't find any evidence. That's why I am worried. But the disccusion is no longer available, it seems like it has been deleted and I can't see if the user Bumblebeebs found a logic answer fot this issue. Also the user is not online since a month and can't answer my messages about if he know what caused the problem, if there is really one, and if I have to carefree about beeing hacked.

Any comment about this strange issue will be always well received.

Chers and Merry Xmas!

I literally just found this yesterday when I had to reinstall windows on my ssd. Found the david user folder with screen captures of harbour seals. They are dated from September, which is the only time I played the game. Really interested to know what this is about.

Hi, KackTheTripper!

I did some experiments and I'm glad to say I'm sure nobody hacked our PC's! (at least playing Everything :). Well, this seemed evident after knowing two different people had the same strange issue with those folders with the same user name, and image captures... too strange, wasn't it?

So, I uninstalled the game, erased any files related to it, downloaded again, installed it, disconnected the PC from the net (phisically too... call me paranoid) and ran the game. I entered the player name, and the game started again to kick where it hurts to my nvidia card because frame rate dropped like Newton's apple... So I inmediately Alt-Tab and there they were... the folders and screen captures again in my game´s disk root, many image captures causing a reduction in video and disc performance. At least nobody was trolling me, only the game.

Some more researches made me realize that screen captures only took place when player's name contained numeric characters (whaaaat?! :steamfacepalm:). As you can see, i have two in my nick, so that was the cause of the problem. Without numbers in the nick, no captures in the disk. Why this happens, maybe the creators can throw some light to us! (please, hit us with the bulb!).

If this explanation can calm some other players a bit about being hacked, I'll be pleased.

Have a happy new year!

Hi all, it appears to be the case that capture code intended for development is active in the Epic Store version of the game, but is not active in the current Steam build. The capture code should not have been included in the Epic Store build. This is not a hack or a troll, just an oversight. We'll be fixing it in a future update.
