Turn off Autoplay?

Hi guys! I've been playing for a bit and I was wondering if there's a way to turn off the Autoplay completely? It's nice sometimes to let go and watch your thing wander, but I'd also really like to be able to just chill in place and watch the world move around me without immediately zooming off after a few seconds.

Just press ESC, there is a menu point called "Autoplay". The first option lets you choose the three modes of autoplay, the third being "off".

The first option I have there seems to toggle whether or not Autoplay will use the ascending and descending options to change scale levels, there's only two choices, not three. Have I not yet unlocked the third, maybe? o:

Doesn't seem like the Autoplay settings do anything. I have Ascend/Descend turned off and it still does it regularly.
