"why does this japanese game have stuff that feels japanese, stupid weebs ruining my grounded, realistic Monster Hunter experience"
Jaggies everywhere that don't vanish whichever AA setting you put in. If you play this on a smaller screen (say 6.2 inches) at lower screen res (say 720p) it may not be noticeable. Or it could be worse if the render resolution is less than 1:1.
D-pad controls are defaulted to social (emotes and calls) instead of the item bar compared to World. The ♥♥♥♥ was that about?
The hunter speaks constantly throughout the entire hunt by default. Voiced protags are fine and all, but do they have to tell me what I'm doing every time I do it? Put that to OFF if you can. Gimmicks are fine, but don't make them annoying.
And those 2D static image effects were ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ disgusting to see, not even proper particle effects like in World. Literally a switch copypaste, as far as I'm concerned.
Not even a good upscale.
I love ignorant know-it-all comments like these, so I'll bite :)
If the controls don't suit me - rebind them? I can rebind everything? WOW, REALLY?
Except you failed to read that the controls don't work properly. RMB cannot be rebound to action AND secondary attack, for example, TAB can't be bound to anything even though it's not used in any melee/menu controls, etc. But you know better, of course.
"Just" ignore the wirebugs? Sure, but it's the same as ignoring the clutch claw in MHW:I - it severely impacts the damage output and prolongs the fights. Bet you didn't consider that tricky one, have you..?
"Most fun MH has had in a while"? Pardon me, but I do like my methodical combat of the old. If I wanted a hack'n'slash I'd go play God of War again, though the ones I played had no flying...wah wah...
Have I played longsword? Yeah, mained it as far back as MHF2/MHFU. But I guess that gives me no perspective on how it used to be with the flashiness, huh?
World isn't the standard for MH - I agree somewhat, but World is CLEARLY and VERY OBVIOUSLY the inspiration here for Rise's...mechanics, controls, animations even graphics (reused assets), etc - it's the benchmark for MH games going forward and they did a lot of things right. It's not unreasonable to compare the last MH title to this one, so I am puzzled as to why you would think it is. An unhealthy bias, perhaps?
As for me using the "weeb" thing - yep, I stick by it. You may not have had the PSP back in the day when I was playing MH non-stop, but I'll fill you in on this: there were plenty of J-RPGs and such that were flashy on the PSP. MHF/MHF2/MHFU/MHP3 were, however, NOT flashy, which is one of the things that drew me to the series as someone who is NOT a fan of the overly-weeby stuff (again - there was plenty of that on the system). Every MH game added a little bit more..a little bit more...a little bit more... At first I even thought GenU was going to be too much, but it was fine, passable. I thought World was gonna be too much when it upped the ante again - I got used to it, nothing was ever obscured. Rise? Yeah, this is too much. Now even people like Team Darkside start complaining, because they can't see what they're doing anymore. But who are they to speak...filthy pros...
Either way, I hope this has been helpful in making you think twice before posting ignorant reactive comments next time (did you REALLY both fail to read where I tried to change the controls AND fail to consider that I might have tried that? REALLY?) and considering that A) not everyone thinks like you, B) not everyone's a weeb or likes weeb sh*t and C) that different people have different preferences and limits.
I hope you have a lovely and educational day :)
"20 pages" of users complaining about crashes and flickering (mostly involving AMD hardware, unsurprisingly, but I did see a few with intel/nvidia combos as well) vs no pages of happy users complaining about not getting crashing... I wonder if there's ever a negative bias towards things because people tend to complain when stuff doesn't work but don't say anything when it does...hmmmmm.... I wonder if that ever happens anywhere else....hmmmm... lol
I do get what you are trying to say here, something like "we shouldn't say something bad because there are more people complaining than complementing", but people usually expect things to go right, because well... they paid for it. It is also devs' responsibility to keep their game optimized and compatible with different hardware of reasonable specs.
You are right and this is WHY we have this...DEMO. People didn't pay for it and it serves a purpose to the devs as well, this is why they're asking for people to report their issues.
Like...seriously, you seem to be forgetting (or ignoring?) that this is a DEMO and it's still over 3 months away from launch (with the content already mostly done thanks to the fact that this is a port to begin with).
I appreciate that people would have liked this demo to work for them - and I certainly had no technical qualms with it that I couldn't solve (the only thing that didn't work from a technical perspective was DSR in fullscreen mode, but it worked and performed flawlessly in borderless up to 10K res lol) - but that's the nature of PC gaming and I wouldn't be surprised if a ton of it is just PEBCAK in various forms, because being in IT taught me just how little people actually know about PCs and how to not trash them, especially when smarties try to "hack" and "mod" the OS itself because "spyware" and other boogeymen they found out about online... :)
