That's not true in MHW. Killing and capturing shares the exact same loot table.

Edit: So if there are parts you haven't broken it's worth considering if you should continue fighting or capture immediately.
Stop circulating this lie. The loot tables for carves and capturing are the same.
There is nothing you cannot get from carves that you can't get with capturing, yes, this includes gems too.
Capturing gives more rewards. If you really want to be efficient about it, have anyone with cutting weapons cut the tail off first before capturing.
If you can't manage to do that, thats on you.

Breaking the head will give you a chance at getting one in the end-of-quest rewards.
Your bad luck really doesn't have anything to do with how the game actually works. Aside from the material cost for traps, there's no downside to capturing.
Not even close, just break his head b4 you capture, its a break only reward not a carve only reward, they dont exist in MHW
