Monster Hunter: World

Monster Hunter: World

Is it worth in 2025?
I currently have become obsessed with Monster Hunter due to Rise, I was recommended to play that as a start as the game was “easier than World for newbs” as it was explained to me. I plan to get World soon, plus Wilds, is MHW still worth it?

Go for it. At least if in some strange situation when you get Wilds and it happen to be unoptimized mess, you can play World while waiting CAPCOM to get it right - or straight up wait until they release expansion for it. Just go get it along with Iceborne also, WIlds gameplay isn't farcry from World anyway.

100% worth it, also perfect time to play it as world has more in common with wilds than rise does with wilds, so will be an easy transition from world to wilds
You won't have wirebugs. But World is definitely worth it, I prefer it over Rise.

It was worth it 19 days ago in 2024, now in 2025 it's not worth it.
Yes, it's worth it.

Go for it, wilds is gonna be a worse game than world anyways.

Wilds isn’t even out yet, what makes you think it’s gonna be worse by just watching a trailer if you haven’t even played it yet?
I only have the experience of MHRise but it looks like it’s gonna be pretty good

Just a joke without punchline, shrug them off. Its just some randos malding over a BETA test built performance and thought it would be what the final product would be, completely forgot why its even called BETA test in the first place. Or can't accept the fact their current PC is outdated to play Wilds, the rest is history.

Who said gaming is a cheap hobby? :cleandino:

Personally I didn’t even know there was a new game coming until I started looking up MHW, I enjoy Rise pretty heavily and aside from the MH4 demo on 3DS this was my first experience getting into a MH game. Definitely not disappointed but I can’t wait to play World and Wilds

Better get to it. Wilds didn't bring much from Rise feature saves some of its QOL and its proven on Beta Test. Though I kind of curious to see how Rise player hold up on Wilds without experiencing MHW firsthand. Or previous installment before World. Mind you, I say this out of concern.

I wonder how many thread asked why we can't "jump" anymore in Wilds. :cleandino: Well maybe they add it on expansion later on? Who knows.

whoever said world is miles better than rise is wrong, they're both great in their own ways, albeit both games obv has issues. After AR300 999/999 on rise i moved to world around september and i love the hunting mechanics, not as fast as rise of course but the monster's health and speed is proportional. Very fun to play and SOS as its populated so if you're bored solo you can play online. Very grounded, but treat it like rise but only the basics, you'll get into the groove easy. Base world, with prev. MH experience may only take 30-40 hrs, and iceborne (upto the story boss) is another 30 ish or so. The grind to fatalis may take a while depending on how easy you can learn monsters, but no need to make a variety of armor sets pre-fatalis as raw is king for most part

You only have a dozen hours in Rise. I would play more to see how you engage with the mechanics and gameplay loop. Monster Hunter games are time consuming and methodical as action games go. World is stronger graphically, has more animation fluidity (you perform emotes rather than strike poses, etc) but remains the same core concept as other MH games.

If you are enjoying what you have experienced, wait for a sale to get World. It will still be there and much of the playerbase will leave to check out Wilds for a while next month so there is no rush and you will likely be able to find people to play with for the foreseeable future with some patience if online coop is your thing.
