Monster Hunter World lagging a lot
It's been almost a year since I last played MH:W and decided to come back and play again, however my game is lagging a lot while doing so. Before I left, my game could run without problems even at medium graphics settings, now (at low settings) my game lags even at menus, cutscenes and obviously while hunting, which makes it very hard to play

My laptop is a Nitro 5 AN515-54 with an i5-9300H CPU and a GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card, with 16GB of RAM available. When I open the game, only the 50% of the RAM and 60% of the graphics card is used according to the control panel. According to the game, I have 3.8GB VRAM available and only 1.5GB are used. Dunno if it's important but my disk has 500GB of space available

All my games run with the GeForce graphics card, hacen't changed that since I bought my laptop, and also, I think most of my drives are up to date, even windows operative system

Is there anything else I can do?

It is strange, sometimes my game lags (<20FPS) and sometimes not (constant 60 FPS), have been testing the exact moment when it lags but doesnt seem to have a pattern, will try the mod mentioned

i suspect the laptop version of the 1060 is most likely the issue but that's just my guess. maybe try to lower resolution

would probably be helpful to turn off entirely (not just put them on low) gpu heavy settings such as ambient occlusion and volumetric fog etc

What are your min/max temps for CPU and GPU under MHW load?

Found this thread complaining about overheating and fps loss, with a possible solution in the comments:
Acer Nitro 5 An515-54 cpu always at 90 degrees when playing games

Disable the high res textures pack if you have it installed (Might want to rename its ChunkHiPC folder, because I'm not sure if it gets deleted when you deselect it from the DLC list). Library > Right click on game > Properties > DLC.

VRAM usage changes in-game depending on what textures are unloaded/loaded. Also, Capcom's usage readings aren't always accurate either.

One more thing: The most recent Nvidia drivers could be a problem as well. Try downgrading to previous drivers.

How can I enable those mods once they are installed? I manually copied them into nativePC folder without modloaders

According to NitroSense, CPU is at 84-94°C and GPU is at 78-91°C in the middle of a hunt, even after setting maximum processor state to 99% as said on the post

Checked the high res textures pack as you said but the only "DLC" I have is Iceborne

The game still starts to heavly lag after 5-15 minutes into a hunt

Temps seem high, but should be functional. You should try monitoring your CPU and GPU usage and clocks to see if they're maintaining them using an app like hwinfo64. Task Manager can monitor other programs and hardware as well. See if you can find any irregularities.

Other than that, my other suggestion before nuking the system is installing an older Nvidia driver. Maybe switch between directx 11 and 12 in-game and see if there's any change?

Last resort is completely reinstalling the game/Windows. If the game doesn't work then, something is likely wrong with your hardware, or your OEM recovery is adding some kind of conflicting manufacturer's software. In that case, try disabling/removing that junk. You likely don't need any of it.

yup just extract the files into the main game directory and it should work
so you should have dinput8.dll
loader-config.json
loader.dll
and nativePC folder, in the same folder where the game's .exe is
and inside nativePC, should be a plugins folder, i don't think there is anything else in there if these are the only mods you get
i think stracker's loader has a pop-up or something when you first launch the game which you can look at to check, but i honestly don't remember, haven't played in a while. i might be thinking of something else. either way, it should be working as long as its installed correctly. if you don't notice anything different, then the performance booster mod probably just hasn't helped much

to go back to OP, have you considered maybe deleting the shader cache? and/or deleting steam download cache + verifying integrity of the game?
