Capcom is adding DRM Enigma Protector to their back catalog of games. Prevents modding....
....and reduces performance by up to 10-15 fps with stutters.

Funny, there's tons of games with DRM that has modding.

You don't seem to understand that not all DRMs are made the same. The specific DRM that Capcom has been adding is called Enigma Protector, which was designed from the ground up to block modding and Cheat Engine. DRM can be anything as light-handed as Steam's base DRM (authenticates with Steam servers only, prevents duplicate installs) to Denuvo. DRM just describes a type of software that controls legal access to digital content, and you brushing all DRM under one umbrella shows you don't really understand the topic well enough. Case in point: every game on Steam already has a DRM in place, Steam's DRM. We're not worried about DRM in general being added to their games, we're worried about Enigma Protector specifically.

At least please read up about it before commenting something like that, you can start with the wiki article at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_rights_management

Worth noting for the 'hitting the fighting games'; they tried putting this into Resident Evil before pulling it from an 'issue'. They promised to add it back later. I think its likely itll come to MonHun

It already came, back when this game was newish, they tried almost every update to stop modding, and it was destroying performance, eventually they took it out because it had no effect on actually stopping mods and just pissed off legit players instead.

This will be no different. they can try, but will fail.

No, of course not, and not a part of what I said even slightly indicates that I don't know this. The issue is that DRM itself is not an anti-mod measure, it is an anti-theft measure. DRM having side effects of making modding more difficult does not mean that DRM was designed with that in mind.

That said, if you feel so hell bent that Engima is the big evil you claim it is, you could AT LEAST be helpful and provide a link to the proof that Engima Protector was "designed from the ground up" to block modding. But that's asking for too much, isn't it?
what a joke, in MH rise we couldn't even set the image quality to 150% WITHOUT MOD, such a clown company run by clowns. No mods no buy, act with your wallet.
It'd be funny if it wasn't so sad; If this goes through, apparently it'll break Steamdeck compatibility. Y'know, something they made a big deal about getting 'verified' over?

Well, hopefully they will back pedal, but most never do. I guess they will learn when their wallet takes a hit, or when the massive campaign to review bomb their games start.
Funny how they went from " we dun care , use mod at your own risk " to " Cease and surrender all your mod or else . "

You're giving them too much credit... they're already guns blazing into their own playerbase right now. Whether you use mods or not, everyone's a target.

Seeing how the review scores of their whole catalog are going lower and lower by the minute, CAPCOM may have finally crossed the line with even with the most patient of their fans.

Nah , it will still be a long way till they start to feel the heat , right now they swim in money and hardcore fan will try to justify whatever they do .

Karma come in due time , but there will be damage along the way .
Steam needs to add a new policy/rules to prevent company from adding DRM to old games to avoid crap like this.

This is a good change, as games should be perfect without the need for mods.

In addition the "contribution" of modders more often than not comes at th expense of the developers creative vision and ability to sell more content and keep the game profitable for longer.

All games need this, old ones in particular, as they need to be preserved in their original state, maybe adding optional purchases as well, as to give new life and economy back to them.

The cost to performance is off-setted by today's machines being more powerful, so the player won't even notice.

Total clown. Bro wants to give money while they take away free ♥♥♥♥ thats can make the game better or different after years of play. They don't need modding protection. They need cheat protection
All this because some too sexually active had chun-li butt clapping mods on
It's a Japanese culture thing, Japanese companies take this entirely too personally and think their IP's are under their absolute control in how they are played.. Nintendo is infamous this for this kind of mindset.

i dont think he could even imagine how Skyrim would be without mods right now. Cus "games should be perfect without the need for mods"

This game has insane amount of mods and not all of them even affect other players. I love Mhw due to the modders adding outfits etc.

If they really do this crap i dont thin any kind of capcom game will be enjoyable now.
by not playing Capcom games and playing Granblue Fantasy: Relink instead :D
Not all DRMs are made the same blah blah
Well then use your super coding skills to crack them all and mod anyway
Do it. You claim you NEED your 3000 FPS, so go and do it.
What's that? Can't? Well, you don't need 3000 FPS then. lol

What kind of logic is this.

You claim you need a home? Huh, you can't build your own home? Truly the conundrum of the century.
What kind of logic is that? A home is essential. 50000 FPS in a game made for 60 is not.
And you're literally comparing real life to coding on a PC, which is what modders literally live for.
So my logic > yours. lmao
