NEW TO THE FRANCHISE WHICH GAME SHOULD I PLAY FIRST
I got World & Rise a few years ago with a free bundle and never really played them, I recently got reminded of their existense due to Wilds and was wondering where in these 3 games I should start since I want to know what is going on in the story!

thanks for the help!

if you are wondering I have all the dlc for both!

Each Monster Hunter game has its own independent story, your not going to miss anything by not playing one. Most will suggest World first, I enjoyed Rise its more fluid but World has more care put into it and it's world I would say. You can't really go wrong with either. GLHF with whichever you decide and welcome to Monster Hunter!

I think World has a better world, story, and representation of the franchise

If you want to feel the old MH title combat but slightly faster, try Rise.
If that wasn't your type or you felt the game is somehow difficult, you can try world since the combat are more ground than rise, until you've reached Iceborne that is...
To be fair, the story in MH is rather loose. Each installment doesn't ties their story to each other. The lore is still cool stuff to read tho.
There is no cohesive story and the order you play them doesn't matter. Each MH game experiments with different themes and mechanics, so they all feel equivalent, but different.
That being said, start with Rise if you're new; it's the easiest and most accessible. Then do World. World is bigger, harder, and has more mechanics to master.
Heres what your going to do, your going to go to wheeldecide.com and slap those games in there, then your going to click on that wheel about 100 times with your eyes closed. Whatever you land on is what your going to play.

You know, or just play wilds because its new and there is a lot of hype around it.

The biggest things you need to know about the three games is that they are all their own contained games. You don't need to play them in order and they each have their own special sauce that makes them unique. Rise in particular went a little bit deep on that sauce.
