Which Weapons and Gear are the best way to take out monsters?
I'm wondering what gear will be a way to take out large monsters that can make things easy for me. I don't have any information at all about which weapons and gear that helps take down large monsters. The Kulu-Yu-Ku wasn't too hard but it took time. There was that monster with poisonous tails that was chasing me when I was fighting the Kulu-Yu-Ku. If there is any weapons that are good taking down large monsters, I would like to know and some evidence too. That way I can get good more. So far research pays off and it's useful.

Again, I will say it's different for each people, I tried to use greatsword for the haha big hit, but, when I'm facing against a fast monster, I touched dual blades, and has been loving both since, some said the bowguns is the easiest to use, but I just have no idea how to use them, and just don't have the patience to do so -w-'), some uses the charge blade for that guard point and elemental discharge, longsword for the I frame abuse, hammer for the knockdowns, etc

That's why I said try all weapons first, and find out which clicks you the most, especially in early missions since you were given all of the weapons sample for free, and see which you're most comfortable to use with, my suggestion is using defender weapon and try to kill anjanath, and see which weapon can you kill it the fastest, or comfortable with

You can also just search on how each weapon plays on YouTube like arekkz gaming for evidence
Whatever moveset suits you the most. There is no correct answer.
The lances for example are good but the slow movement might be pure annoyance.
The dual blades have good damage output and you can move especially fast but the camera with lock-on might be too jumpy for you.
And so on. Test the different weapons against the mastodons.

I ended on the hunting horn as i like having more options. The disadvantage is the need to sharpen it more often than other weapons so its only tolarable with quick sharpening.

I know a while ago people were speedrun melting bosses with bowguns.

But yeh use what you like, I still SAED (Charge Blade) bird wyverns even though most of em are too small to efficiently hit with it.

Longsword is super simple to use and puts out respectable damage but others will hate to party with you due to its wide sweeps.

are you asking for which weapons of the 14 or for gear crafting recommendations?
what do you define as easy? some weapons are easier to learn than others if thats what youre wanting, some require builds to get the most out of them

greatsword is very simple but very slow, its just 1 button
hammer is probably 2nd easiest to figure out, hold charge and let go to attack
longsword is most popular for a reason, both fast and strong and doesnt need any skills or such, plus free parry move
horn is similar to hammer but a little less manoeuvrable and a little more complicated
lance is weak and very boring but easy to get consistent performance from it, its just block and poke
chargeblade and bowguns are a bit more complicated, dual blades and bow like dealing elemental damage and so its harder to get the most out of them without making multiple of them for each monsters weakness or dedicated builds
Bowguns obviously have different ammo that you need to maintain and arent recommended for early game
kinsect glaive is similar speed to LS but takes a bit more learning, noparry4u

what am i missing? I forget

all 14 are strong, but some are certainly easier to use than others.

Greatsword for example is a hard one, you will miss a lot or get hit before you land your slow but powerful blows. if you are very new to the game. Thats hard to learn. Its timings require knowing how the monster will move, esp when they get faster.

Dual blades, switch axe, lance... these are really easy to do high damage with. You barely have to read, tho that would help. ex, All dual blades has to do to unleash its best move is press triangle and circle while its powered up with r2.

If u are willing to read and research, you can choose any of them actually. I suggest learning 2 weapons. You have an easy one. Then one u like. Also adds variety to the game. Im using switch axe, greatsword and hammer. Switch axe the most.

Latest upgraded weapon on the market. And a good grasp of which weapon element is good against what. :steambored: You can smack Great Jagras all you like but with basic bone sword tier 1? Good luck. You can slap Teostra with any weapon, but with Lightbreak weapons? Have fun hunting for 30+ minutes.

being a 1 weapon specialist is good but weapon match up is a thing and also extended you're play time by making all the weapons and playing with them.

Sword and Shield, which I would highly recommend for beginners. Fast, has a little bit of everything (block/slash/bludgeon/jump attacks/combos/good slinger ammo usage), and it's draw/sheathe speed is fantastic. Great for learning the game with because they cover a lot of ground and are very lenient with player mistakes.
There is no "best weapon" in this game, i could recommend you a weapon but won't matter if you don't like it. Try each weapon first and then decide for yourself which one you liked the most and use it.

But just for reference, the first time I've played World I used the hammer, it was perfect for me because I could stun monsters a lot by hitting their heads, it's very easy to use and deals a lot of damage with the charged attacks, also has a fun sliding attack that it's ideal to mount monsters. The only drawbacks are poor attack range, no way to cut tails and no defensive options other than evading.

switch axe isn't easy in mhw...
it has the worst iframe of all weapons with its tiny hop for 10 frames
also one of the longest sheath animation and no shield or block option

you complain about slow blows of gs while telling him to use demon dance of db which locks you in a long animation and is literally a noob killer meanwhile gs has option to block + fancy shoulder bash move, which grants hyper armor with huge dmg mitigation, literally the move, which was added to all weapons in rise and made sa in rise so much easier to play

king of iframes is still longsword than comes sns with its backhop than long time nothing
question is, if the beginner wants to learn these mechanics or simply play it safe with simple clumsy blocking or getting out of the way of big attacks by mix of dodge rolling or sheathing weapon and running or you identify as attack helicopter and get airborne with insect glaive to dodge certain attacks

Depends on the person. I find greatsword the easiest, tackle through their hits, predict where they'll move and charge TCS. Easy to mount.
Longsword is arguably the most overpowered if you get good at the parry mechanics.
If you're really bad Heavy Bow Gun, even stoned you can kill easily with it

What's this about bots?
Every weapon is a good weapon for large monsters.

I'm going to champion Hammer and Lance, both are extremely mobile weapons with very simple movesets and both will make big things dead. Both weapons want to be right up in a monsters face and both weapons are a lot of fun.

I tend to take Lance over Hammer just because it can cut tails off and because you can mount monsters very easily.

Just play hammer, easy to use, good damage, easy to stun monsters if you hit the head which you always should, easy to master, and it have a pretty good mobility despite being a slow and heavy hitting weapon.
