Can I play this game offline?
The reason I ask is that I might want to play this on my steam deck, and when I play on my steam deck, I often go to offline mode as chat/invite notifications get directly in the way of my game.

But do I need an online connection even just to play singleplayer?

You can either:

- put Steam in offline mode,
- or prevent the game from connecting to the internet in any way (firewall or just disconnect your internet)

The game will recognise that it is offline and skip the lobby creation.

There is no Denuvo or other intrusive DRM (only a basic Steam DRM wrapper which is more for convenience of integrating Steam features than for actual DRM), so your game will work offline forever, no time limit.

Event Quests cannot be accessed offline. Event Quests are not required to complete the game but there are some useful equipment you can craft (not the best, but can be very helpful at certain points in the game) and some are good for farming specific materials.

There are mods that convert Event Quests to Optional Quests, but not all quests will work.

okay, thanks! I didn't see an option on the menu anywhere for offline mode (unless I'm blind).

I guess I need to uninstall some stuff on Steam Deck to make room for MH Worlds, lol.

i'd check how to do it before downloading if i were you but yeah
as far as I know you don't need to actually be online to make a lobby, so you can play it just fine, you will miss out on event quests and some special endgame stuff if you're offline but you can go through like 98% of the game offline just fine, and multiplayer is never strictly required for anything

you can't do events if you're offline, otherwise you're fine.
they shoulda just had em accessible offline, it's a bit hare brained imo, but unless you have an event quest in mind you're good to go. game is perfectly solo-friendly, that's how I did every monster at least the first time, just joining friends for fun or helping/farming with randos.

afaik, it's steam>go offline, unless you're talking about steam deck

not sure if it's different, but there's also offline option on friends tab too, see if that will let you play online without getting disturbed by chat and notification

no. you can play.

with offline i think you just dont get a login bonus, and possibly no 'hub event' cycling, but i havent played it offline, just experienced what happens when i lose connection (like in early 2018 when this game was flickering on and off on the friends list constantly)
