Kinsect? Speed is king, sever or blunt matters little. Do not change kinsect element,
It's a waste of resources.
Damage? Raw. Especially if you've Iceborne.
Build? Everything that empowers melee is goOd.
Fun? Assured. I've many good memories of my aerial duels with AT velkh. XD
Want to use either glaive or switchaxe.
I played mh unity already, not finished, too grindy.
My playstyle: never use items, no traps, never parry, never mount or jump off immediately. Dont help with a cat village if there is one in mhw , those cats can rot for all i care.
Question: what would be the more fun weapon to use between those two under these conditions in your opinion.
damn, well, i never played unity so i dont know about cat villages, but in mhw there are cat tribes XD, and you have to help them to get good cat gadgets, the guy who will help you level up your relationships with the local cats is called a "Lynian researcher" and he talks funny too.
the weapon i would reccomend you start with is Switch axe, it speeds up hunts in the early game. then you can pick up the insect glaive later on coz its more fun by then.
I went non elemental coz i saw how redundant elemental damage is, i cant even tell if its applying. for my insect, i went blast/sever. the butterfly one. i used it alot and it spreads the blast dust like a cancerous teostra.
one thing i noticed is that most "Kinsect" users dont use their bugs to attack, or empower them, but i will assume they're new to it as well. I did alot of practice and research before i used it to hunt so i knew what to do slowly and eventually had a flow chart.
I learned a loop combo for when a monster is downed, but i have a thing of shooting my insect first before going into the combo XD. idk if thats normal but it helps with the damage output from the blast powder clouds.
1. get buffs
2. buff kinsect
3. chose slowest/most powerful kinsect
4. recall kinsect
5. vault and thrust
6. tornado slash
7. repeat 4-7
I believe this is the highest DPS on a large monster that you're angling your drill with. Its incredibly satisfying, and is the hardest but I believe most damaging way to fight large monsters
Good man.
Feed your hungry hungry caterpillar/moth/beetle and they will fight better.
The Pseudocath lineage (or Foliacath with Iceborne) is considered among the best and I agree (blast powder and superior speed).
But, personally, I found a superior choice in the blunt lineage, even without blast powder, nominally because they can both stun monsters (hitting head) and break heads (especially gratifying when a kinsect break and block a diablos charge). One of the few parts that as a glaiver I struggle to break (normally).
Therefore, carnage beetle, or gleambeetle velox satisfied me more…
Until I obtained the Nexus Dragon Soul, that is.
Another pro tip I can give you, but it’s not meant to be a reliable crutch, is that the kinsect’s bait you shoot from your glaive to give your kinsect a target is a physical projectile (i.e. has a model rendered in game).
With a lot of practice, you can therefore use it to…. Intercept other projectiles rendered in game (i.e. all the rathalos/rathian fireballs).
Once you can do it reliably, it is time to stop farming the guiding lands. XD
Not in my experience: changing kinsect element comes at the cost of power.
I prefer my kinsect as strong as possible, even with what....? 10/20 less elemental damage per hit in a good matchup?
Not worth it, imo.
this Kinsect move will work properly and starts from the Descending thrust attack (which is Glaive highest dmg output). seeing ur kinsect drill a monster huge/long body is very satisfying (and with the right build can deal a huge dmg aswell). and yeah this also spawn quite a lot of Kinsect powders
other than descending thrust, the end of helicopter attack also deal a quite high dmg but that's about it, Aerial dps (or lets just say helicopter) dps is honestly poop. i usually just use Helicopter to move around the monster and to find a perfect landing spot for that Sweet sweet Descending thrust damage and Kinsect drill Follow up (keep in mind that ur kinsect must attached on u 1st if u wanna make it drill a monster, so make sure to recall it 1st if u wanna do a kinsect drill)
when ur on ground is where u can deal the most dmg, usually u only land a ground attack when u see an opening and if ur airborne you start from that Descending thrust 1st. then --> Tornado slash combo --> repeat (u can also do the whole combo and reposition again by doing the backward spin when u hold backward and press O)
oh yeah incase u didn't know that Aerial Dash also has i-frames, so make use of that and train to be a Airborne Dodge god lol
and as always no matter what it is, Red + White buff is Vital. so make sure to always get this cuz white increase ur aerial dash range and red unlocks more powerful Glaive attacks. u can also do a handy reset by keeping the orange buff off 1st and fill it when the other 2 buff (white and red) about to expire, which after u get the orange 1 it will reset the whole 3 buff timer (this assuming u alrdy familiar where to get each 1 of em from the specific monster)
this is mega helpful. Honestly i never have my insect attached to me at all times except when i need to reset the buffs, i always send it out to attack, when its low on stamina, i use the insect boost to instantly refill its stamina and then send it out immediately to attack lol. i didnt know i had to have it on me to do the drill. I just fight alongside my insect, but what you said here made me rethink how i can use it strategically.
- Make sure you equip a decoration for the Airborne skill to increase your aerial attack damage
- If you want to mount a monster easily, vault in the air and land a normal spinning attack (descending thrust does no mounting damage). Spam that move two-three times and you'll get your first mount easily.
- Always keep your kinsect buffed by consuming a slinger ammo. It'll allow you to gather two buffs before retrieving your kinsect. This, along with using a fast kinsect (such as the Foliacath III Forz), will allow you to gather all three buffs within seconds.
haha its normal tho, the constantly recalling and releasing the kinsect are indeed pretty tedious if u wanna spam drill the monster lol
