Why not equipping the Gatling?
Hi,

I was wondering...

why can't I equip the gatling gun from the Fatalis-Quest and just skip all the other weapons instead? If this world has such amazing technology why using swords and clubs instead?

Sort of like booting up any other game just so you can watch the credits. If you just have fatalis gear then you've skipped the entire game. Killing monsters is the gameplay loop, gear is the progression.

It's the classic case of fantasy civilisations only being advanced in very particular ways

I do believe there are some lore reasons for this in MonHun's case, but nonetheless still the reason why

Short answer? Because hunters are still the best weapon.
Long answer? Do you REAALLY want a in-depth possible explanation using unconfirmed but plausible lore?

Are you sure?

Fatalis is, in a very literal sense, a plague spawned by nature (but probably precipitated by the experiments the ancient civilization did on monsters) to punish the hubris of the ancient civilization that predates the current “guild of monster hunters”.
He is the harbinger of apocalypse. Literally. Straight Up.
He fuses hunters to his scales and makes them part of him. He is in a sense immortal, and able in time to regenerate from the weapons carved from him (hence why hunters using Fatalis gear are in-time, transformed).
At the same time, he is not an unpersonal menace: he challenges hunters to kill them. A machine, a cannon, a cold weapon is as nothing to him. Just a toy beneath his notice.
Going Fatalis hunting with a gatling gun? He would fireball your ass while remaining in the air, and then destroy your entire country the same way for the ignorance you displayed and the disgrace you represent.
Only a challenger with strength on par with his, can capture the wicked interest of Fatalis, and because of this, fight him properly.

Guys I think you misunderstand, OP was asking why you can't just pick up the gatling gun and use it as a weapon (I don't think you can just use the roaming ballista wherever you please mate, it's kinda limited to that narrow strip that it's attached to)

Also nah mate you can definitely kill Fatalis with a gatling gun if you could fire at him for long enough, the problem isn't the firepower but moreso the fact that you're not gonna be able to move much while firing lol
Listen op, i am only lifting this really big hammer, or this reallllllly big sword, i cannot lift that relatively small gatling gun for use, its just too heavy.

ok?????? :X

don't know what you talking about it is already in the game and called wyvern heart for hbg

when you can't cap with a single clip of it than your build is weak as always

the real question is why can't we hold two hbg at once to double the fun

Honestly, wilds should insert a 15th monster hunter weapon. Just call it "Siege".Massive Portable turret loaded w guns. It has limited ammo that allows it to fire like the roaming ballista and limited fuel too. Normally it fires like the standard ballista. Maybe some special ammo from rise to stun monsters. It has a dragonator for popping wounds and you move really slowly with it and it can guard. Other players can climb on top of you and perform leap attacks. The seikret gets tired, and eventually falls over and takes like 5 seconds to get up if you have this weapon and make it sprint for like 20+ seconds straight.

that was.... amazing! Would it help, if you'd wrap the gatling into... some wool-made cloth... like a... cape ...for example? xD
Idk, I mean, if such tech really that advanced...

Schrade (the Kingdom Fatalis burn in single night which also where you fought that thing) would've stood a chance don't you think?

You can, it's called a heavy bowgun with wyvernheart.
