The tldr of that video is the quest loading time. The majority of the console players are still on last gen console (PS4/Xbox One). The average quest loading time on PC with SSD is probably less than 10 seconds while the average quest loading time on console is probably closer to a minute. That itself pretty much makes crossplay impossible.
There is also the fact that you can mod on PC, which wouldn't make it fair for console players.
Whoever made that video is an idiot then. I've played with plenty of people who play the game on a hard drive while I'm on a damned fast NVME SSD. It doesn't break anything. It doesn't make anything impossible.
The only thing preventing crossplay is that Capcom said "screw the whole thing" when Sony demanded money to allow it.
i doubt, rise will have crossplay, so let us hope the next main line monster hunter has.
Yeah Sony has a pretty LONG history of saying "No" to cross-play. They are super against it. And I'm pretty sure Capcom was in the pockets of Sony when MHW released as the Wikipedia gives pretty strong hints of it. But doesn't outright say it last I checked.
I literally said there are hardware limitations that makes crossplay impossible, and the most obvious one is the loading time. Maybe I should not have stated HDD vs SSD because they are on a different platform to avoid confusion. But anyway, here's the video.

Sony being greedy, isolationist asshats does.
There are plenty of games that have crossplay between consoles and pc, and guess what? Loading time does not break anything.
Also, not defending Sony, they are some corporate bastards for sure.
It sucks, but it doesn't prevent anything at all.
I'm not saying hardware limitation is the only reason, Sony being greedy is also the main reason as well.
If there was going to be any cross platform, you would've heard about it the moment the PC port got announced. Companies like to brag about things like these, they wouldn't hide the fact that they're working on it.
Hell, there are games that have crossplay for pc, xbox, playstation AND switch all on the same servers.
Here, have a list and quit making stupid claims with no basis.

Hardware limitation is just another convenient excuse for "we don't want to waste our money on this". Sounds better to the public.
Here's the bottom line: it costs money. Most companies don't see any value in it so they aren't willing to waste money on something that won't improve their bottom line. Case closed, this is how big companies like Capcom operate. No cross platform.
Proof's in the leaks from last year. They refused Sony's fee (Epic didn't, which is why fortnite has crossplay, for example), and canned the whole thing. Probably because they didn't see the point in doing crossplay without what was going to be the biggest platform for the game.
