Akantor, Ukanlos and Jhen Mohran had a few files with their names on the first demo. they seem good canditates forupdate 3 and beyond. we can also expect more World monsters to be ported over and a few more apexes in updates, as those require far less work than entierely reworking a monster.

46 is a bit on the low side, especially since a bunch of these are just apex versions and all we know about them so far is that they are used in rampage mode, so I personally wouldn't count them. So about 40-ish? Not a lot, but I expected it to be around that number, MHW had something like 35 IIRC with all the post release DLC (Iceborne doubled that number).

Take the leaks and the data mined stuff with a grain of salt.
Keep in mind that Alatreon was supposed to be in World and not in Iceborne, keep in mind that Oroshi Kirin was supposed to be added but never was and most importantly, keep in mind that Fatalis wasn't supposed to be the closure for Iceborne but something else but when they saw the fans getting hype due to the 15th anniversary trailer showcasing a simple hd model for Fatalis they said that couldn't just not add him in the game.

Real shame, I really enjoyed seeing Lunastra stomp players, especially those with high HR/MR and thousands of hours played.

never understood the hate for Luna. i've always enjoyed her, and she was one of the first monster to give a proper challenge, and she is still decently difficult on repeated encounters, wich is something most monsters lack a lot.

she has terrible hitzones and she spams fire everywhere, being too close to her damages you, shes always knocked you back with her wind pressure attacks, she deflects ranged attacks and she has 1 hit ko attack. shes like artifical difficulty to the max

I find that she's a different type of challenge than most ED.
Most offensive focused set works on other monsters but not Luna and that's why Luna was always bottom tier to a lot of people.

As long as you take into account everything that she does and build around to counter her, she became easy and fun. Unfortunately, not a lot of people do that and just complain about her, but I understand the un-fun-ness of Luna to some extent.

Me too. I was really hoping that Valstrax would get added to World and I really miss him.
He was such a great monster in terms of his design and his fight was amazing as well.

I'm really hoping that he is going to make a return to the series in Rise.

confirmed by both Asterisk and leakers, a few monsters aren't at launch. these are bazel, apex Zinogre, Apex rathalos and all of the previously mentionned monsters.

-Ibushi is a source of Dragon Weapons.
Magnamalo armor has Resentement, Counterstrike (level 3: +25 raw after being knocked down) nad Hellfire Cloak (no idea what it does)
