Are you playing on Big Picture? I suggest trying it if you aren't.
And I already saw that mod too, I may use it, but first I have to fix this problem.
The game has its own support so it makes sense why this is happening.
EDIT
Yes, it works. You shouldn't need betterjoy at all. I have mine connected via Bluetooth, but here's my Steam settings to get it to work:
Steam Controller Settings: https://imgur.com/Bfgw2R0
Properties on Monster Hunter World: https://imgur.com/cb58M5b
I also found that when I install/attach new controllers, for Steam to recognize it, I have to first go into Windows and calibrate it. With Steam closed, I'd suggest trying that too. If type "controller" into the Windows search, you should see something mention "set up controllers".
Hopefully this helps!
Seriously, just use betterjoy. Results in the pro controller working with anything with xinput support.
Just disable steam's switch controller support. It's buggy garbage anyway.
