With wich promp would you recommend to practice in the training grounds?. Since I use evade extender, Im trying to find a setup that works with it; but when I practice on the pole, my hits seem to hit more offten than when I practice on the explosive barrel infront of it; even when using the same setup on both.
I'm not too sure myself, my dude. This is my first MH game and i'm only like 70ish hours into it myself. I don't use evade extender, i just kept waking them up with TCS and 90% of the time what i wrote above worked. Not sure if the hitbox is jarred because of how curled up they are or if TCS has phantom range.
All i can tell ya, i run up to the head (or w/e part i wanna hit), block, roll back 180, wiggle back another like 2 ant steps, turn around and start the wallop.
Hopefully someone else can help you more. That's what works for me. Good luck my dude.
Edit: Evade Extender obviously messes with the distance. So you gotta account for that aswell after you roll back once. I'd asume you're taking it into account but just on the offchance you're not, i wanted to mention it.
The evade extender doesn't add too much reach to the roll but it's enough for the weak 1st TCS hit to connect with it's phantom range if you don't factor it in.
Do need to take note that slopes will alter TCS wake up distances.
if you're unsure on the distance, try to be further away than you need to and then slowly move forward if you miss. you don't lose anything.
Usually you need to be 'slightly more than the length of your sword' away
you can also aim the sword while its charging if your scared. like, aim to the sides on the first few swings then re-aim back on it's head or whatever
when you block at the monster's head, you shouldn't be touching it. just standing slightly before it
Based on my experience I can only think of 3 culprits,
- evade extender,
- you take a wee step forward on your first swing,
- or those damn slopes messing with your tcs distance.
