what would be the reasons you use recovery up, divine blessing and defense boost for safety?(if you do)
I always thought the recovery speed+3 paired with Immunizer is the best ♥♥♥♥-you-cart build with least slots used. but most hunters I see in SoS that are building safe use defense 7, DB3/5 or recovery up 3, never recovery speed. (assume health-boost 3 are paired with all of those or 4 fatalis) I personally use recovery speed3 whenever I'm getting into trouble w/ a certain monster and always succeed, even more unkillable with rocksteady mantle, you simply can't die unless it's something like ecliptic meteor.

The main downsides of recovery speed is that you still need to spend time to recover that health, it only recovers the red part, and that red part is lost if you take any amount of direct damage.

Divine blessing means less damage taken, meaning you need to recover less health, or you may survive an attack that would have carted you.

Recovery up means your heals are stronger, so fewer potions/less time spent on healing. You can simply use a potion right away instead of waiting for your health to recover naturally on its own.

Defense boost is bad.

doesn't Recovery speed3 w/ immunizer heals the red/yellow part insanely fast? usually if you get hit by a knock attack taking a big chunk of your hp which replaces with big red/yellow hp bar, the invincible roll and getting up animation duration will heal you up to the point you can tank another hit if you're that stupid. I feel Divine blessing is often gambling and recovery up needs to be paired with speed eating to be effective. another point, recovery speed3 costs only 2 slots and 3 for HR, so you don't have to sacrifice much of your ATK skills too.

Recovery speed 3 + immunizer gives decent returns early on. It works even better for shield classes, by recovering red chip damage. It is less effective on ranged classes, who suffer bigger hits and thus have less chance to recover red health. It also loses some effectiveness near the endgame, when every monster is dealing far more damage than recovery can handle. RS is very much a chip guard, negating most minor forms of damage but losing strength as fights get tougher.

Recovery builds go crazy on hunting horn. Their healing song stacks with recovery speed and immunizer, creating a cheat mode of endless healing. Try it out, it's pretty silly.

Divine blessing is kind of the opposite. It has little value against small hits and shines at saving the hunter from big hits. Ranged classes get a lot of utility out of it, and it does very well with endgame fights. DB does not have any cooldowns or protection caps, the more damage you take the better it gets.

Recovery up works on life steal from weapon augments. I was lucky enough to find two Challenger/Medicine jewels and it is a nice enough boon. I've always just stuck to 2 recovery speed and an immunizer for improving my healing outside using those though.

Divine blessing I probably wouldn't use outside of lvl 5 and defense boost is just too weak an improvement to take over other defensive skills.

This is from my experience
Recovery up - no reason
Defense boost - never in iceborne
Divine blessing 1,2 or 5 - chance to prevent oneshots if you're using ranged weapons

I value evade skills much higher than any of those
and of course health boost

Defense boost can help you reach DEF caps for monsters you are otherwise going to get one-shot by if your armor is lacking when you reach them.

Divine blessing 5 can spare you from carting to endgame monsters an awful lot if you can spare the slots for it but short of 5 points it does not proc often enough to be an essential skill.

Recovery Speed can give you some decent red health recovery and improves Vaal's HP regen armor skill noticeably but more importantly having points in Recovery Speed will speed up your healing from the Wide-Range effect when someone else is healing you much like Speed Eating although Speed Eating also speeds up healing you give yourself from potions, etc.

If you stack every possible DEF skill possible you can become virtually invulnerable fighting most monsters in the event that you wish to prevent carting when playing with a team for some reason and you don't need ATK boost skills to clear hunts with master rank gear provided you are not fighting endgame monsters, tempered, etc.

def boost is trap and waste of slot, recovery up stack up with health augment there are some build that use it. while divine blessing is not bad its not good either but the upgrade version the divine blessing secret while its still rng the percent of it procing is higher than the reg version. and its must or a good investment for fatalis fight if you already max you're DPS. just pray that it proc if you got hit by fatalis. if you gonna ask me i just go for free meal secret and divine blessing secret the two complement each other.

Defense boost is a waste of slots: never use it.

Recovery Up is a nice addition to a build with peak performance and a weapon with health absorption modifier: it allows to quickly activate peak performance again in case of mishaps. Always use it in tandem with peak performance, if you can slot it in your build.

Divine Blessing is imo, mandatory only against Fatalis, where you need all support you can have to begin farming him. Outside that particular fight, tho, I would not recommend its use. MAYBE vs AT Velkhana, but in that case and especially after enough hunts, I prefer to fly on the razor edge and fight Velkhana in a high octane adrenaline situation.

divine blessing is one of the most useful skills that allow you to be extremely offensive because you can just shake most attacks off, together with health-aug, your uptime on the monster is extremely high

Recovery up + heal augment = I don't need to stop to heal if I take a hit(peak performance is amazing). Doubly so when you add divine blessing on top of it.

The only time I used Recovery Speed (+ Immunizer) was when I was using a HH with the Recovery Speed song. It was pretty stupid. By the time you stand up you already healed all the red health, lol.
I've never used Recovery up tho. Health Boost, Divine Blessing and Max Pots are enough.

It's not in many situations actually. It might be when it's randomly slotted into some build, but in dedicated defense focused build aiming for specific breakpoints it can be just enough to get you there. There's a lot to be had past 1000 armor, but it kinda takes a lot to get to the next nice number. Which is like 1360, so most don't bother.
