The 'Purple Red Blue' noteset is very popular for being able to provide both XL Attack and Defence boosts.
I'm partial to the 'Purple Red Green' noteset which is focused on healing and regen since you can wind up having a hefty amount of passive healing.
There's also the 'Purple Red Orange' noteset, which is rather rare, but very simple to use since there's a song dedicated to refreshing the songs you've already played, so you can keep looping it, it also has a flinch free song to help prevent infighting.
Another popular noteset is 'Purple Blue Orange'. Only has Attack Up S (becomes L), but has Defence Up L, Stamina boosts, and 'All Wind Pressure Negated' which will prevent the team from being blown around by Kushala (still take damage from tornadoes and such but everyone gets to maintain their footing).
Gives you a choice of song types
Awakened with Attack Melody III (similar melodies with Guild Palace HH).
And no, Safi's horns are not the best. They have limits.
I use 1 of these 5:
- Taroth Pipe Sleep (regen+attack L),
- Ruinous Desolation (earplugs L + affinity),
- Lightbreak Timbre (negate ailment),
- Kjarr Pipe Myth (elemental dmg + regen)
- and Sforzando III (wind resist + attack L)
I use some of these hard counter ailments, others for fights with a lot of roars, and the rest for more generalized fights.
The thing to note is how you play: do you like the spin, or the impact wave?
If spin, then build more affinity. If wave, well, affinity is not as important. Build raw power.
Kjarr Pipes and Lightbreak Timbre are better for affinity builds, since they're more element focused. Anything with high raw, like Ruinous Desolation or Taroth Pipe Sleep, just max out agitator, attack boost and peak performance first, with a little tenderizer.
You can't go wrong with any of the attack melodies. Attack 1 has OK auxiliary support songs, Attack 2 has tons of healing, Attack 3 is really good for DB and Bow users, and Attack 4 is just the "pure DPS" setup.
The elemental melodies are a little more specific, but the elemental attack boost echo song has the potential to out-damage AuL with the right team setup. Elemental 2 has some of the best support songs while also having elemental attack boost, but does not have impact/dragon wave. Element 3 offers divine protection, extended health recovery, AND elemental attack boost which makes it the best element melody imo.
The stamina songs aren't that great because they don't offer significant damage boosting buffs, but its good to note that Stamina 2 is really good for gathering builds and Stamina 1 can be nice for goldian/silverlos hunts for the wind resist and antidote songs.
The earplugs melody set isn't too bad, but it replace AuL with affinity up. Despite that, it has really good support songs like earplugs (L) and extended health recovery.
The abnormal status song also doesn't have AuL, but instead opts abnormal status attack increased. I don't really think its worth it despite having all ailments negated since it doesn't have much else going for it.

Safi horns are customizable but if you haven't farmed Safi for enough dracolite, you won't get your *perfect* horn.
I personally use the Striped Dragonga horn quite a lot. It's the blast-blight Tigrex horn with the same melodies as the Laguna Drum II. I like its sound and it looks cool!
