Ailment Bows
So after surviving my encounters with Raging Brachy, got my armor and IG built. And I'm wondering if the R.Brachy Bow is worthwhile. I know that (in general terms) Elemental is the key point for Bows, is Ailment any bit of decent or is it just hot garbage?

Asking for a kind of jack-of-all-trades Bow build, the kind I can take to the Guiding Lands and hunt anything and everything that shows up without having to swap between 4-5 loadouts for each monster.

It's definitely useable! I'm not sure if it's my play style, but I can't seem to get it to out-perform my Safi shatterbow. But the blast bows are definitely good useable "jack of all trade" bows for GL or multiple monster hunts.

JUST make sure it has lvl 2 normal shots and lvl 2 spread shots to help it compete with element bows not bad for a ALL around bow i use it with agi 7 and can get 50-65s on spreads so not bad

only Ailment bow that is using in practical that i know is blast bow

Raging brachydios bow will does the job just fine but better option is safi

if you're going for safi then put on all atk awakened if raging brachy bow then just augmented atk as much as you can

but honestly the blast bow is only used against monster with bad EHZV in general which is only few match up in the game and only to be used in solo scenario if you're playing in mp you still wanna go for elemental

as of now monster with bad EZHV are Ruiner Nerg(usable on normal HR Nerg as well),Velkahana,Kushala,Zinogre both normal and stygian

you'll losing on elemental damage but raw damage will still does the job and blast will contribute in flinch the monster and you should be able to ditch in a lot of damage it might not be killing as fast as elemental but it'll still kill the monster

Apparently I mis-remembered the Bow tree badly today.
I was thinking that the Pukei Bow was similar to the Pukei IG - a Poison weapon with super high ailment rating. But alas, Pukei Bow has hidden ailment Blast of all things.
So, looking like R.Brachy wins by enemy forfeit. I only play solo so Safi is kinda out of reach.

It's still a not great bow, but the ones with hidden element can still benefit from elementless deco. It's a decent starter bow I guess.

I fully upgraded a diablo bow just for curiosity, and it was terrible. Not recommended, but it also wasn't the worst thing imaginable.

Bro, I heard you liked blast, so we put blast in your blast and added an extra helping of blast on top.
Want to get like, 14+ blast procs per hunt on a monster with a 2-star weakness to blast?

Build for blast attack 4, eat for "felyne specialist," get a Kjarr Bow Blast for the critical ailment and high blast, 100% affinity, and use blast coat with an apothecary mantle.

Actually, just a raw bow isn't that bad. One example is using the Rajang bow for its ridiculously high raw for a crit draw dragon piercer setup. It hits like a literal truck, sometimes reaching 180 dmg ticks from the pierce.
