Do you think wilds will be bigger, the same, or smaller than world?
In terms of impact i mean. World introduced many to the franchise and pretty much made it capcom’s prized moneymaker. How will wilds perform do you think?

It depends on what state it is in on release. Keep expectations low.

I saw those requirements lol. Launch is going to be rough on pc for the first few months

Wilds will be smaller than MH3U, because it lacks underwater levels.

World blindsided us all who were kind of ignorant to MH, by that I mean fifth fleeters like me :B with wilds we're all ready and have expectations now. I went back and played 3u and 4u and checked out rise, so whatever wilds turns out to be, I'm sure I'll love it the same.
unstable launch, bad optimization and lack of content

if any of this 3 appear at launch, the game launch is absolutely going to be badly received by the fans considering the price of the game

and since this is the 1st Bridge to Gen 6, they really should prepare the game at the best state for launch to met the big expectation from majority of the fans

Fairly certain the maps will be large but buggy as hell. Between the clown level PC requirements and Denuvo DRM I have fairly low expectations for Wilds.
if it has less of an impact than world did, it wouldnt be by very much
world was the first MH game on pc and was hyped as hell
now wilds is the first MH game with crossplay and true open world and is pretty hyped up as well as far as i understand lol
mhw was basically a prototype game for testing pc platform, i have zero doubt wilds is going to be a far higher quality game in every aspect, but quality doesnt equal popularity, its all about the marketing for whether or not itll be as impactful
i expect it to have definitely more sales than mhw did but maybe there will be less on day 1 launch or preorders, idk i dont know what the pattern of day 1 sales across the series looks like but in general the numbers only go up

To simplify my thoughts, I would say it will open its door to even more mainstream player to the series. Good or bad is subjective to each of us. But I'm confident to say that we should expect griever with RTX on than what MH World has.

Base World I assume? I'm not sure, though the monster roster is looking to be waaaay cooler and that's the big thing to me. Base World has the worst monster roster in the franchise (outside of, like, the very first game lol) and Wilds likely won't be a new low in that regard at least

I'm also interested to see the locales in full, as I like both the forest and the savanna so far

I believe it's already confirmed that Wilds will have underwater exploration, just not combat underwater

... Besides, I'm pretty sure the only fully underwater locations in 3rd gen were arena-esque locales for the likes of Ceadus, no? Deserted Isles and Flooded Forest only have half a dozen areas between them both that are underwater. Either way, 3rd gen wasn't even scratching the surface of what they could have done with underwater combat/exploration imo

Cross game, yes. Cross save, no. This is why MHwilds will be for console players mainly

Well, that's at least something, it's so boring without water battles and underwater swimming. Water opened up a whole new game, it's a pity it was left behind in the dust, because of some players disliking it.

If we are talking impact then nothing will be bigger than MHW since as you said it was the introduction of the series to the PC market. MHW is for MH IP what Yakuza 0 was for Yakuza IP. To this day most people say Y0 is the best one in the series.

Actually it wasnt the feedback at the time, it was the fact underwater combat meant they had to make two sets of animations for each weapon (as well as compatible monster) every time they added new weapons or changed moves.

Shintaro Kojima: "If the game already has ground-based battles, then [adding underwater combat] is like making a separate game. It’s difficult. It’s really really hard.” (translated from his Tweet).

With the higher variety of weapons and moves, as well as more gimmicks like claw or focus mode in Wilds, its understandable why they cant just add underwater combat without a very high amount of dev time dedicated solely to it.
