It was also really cool to automatically be placed in a mass lobby and to chat with other hunters. Something I wish World and Rise had.
Not a fan of setting up camps costing points only for monsters to tear them down. I set up two camps, monster destroyed one, no points for a new one, and ignored the mechanic throughout the beta.
The hitboxes on some of the tail sweep animations were a bit wonky and lingered far too long then they should have. It was in beta so hopefully, by the time it's released. some of the complaints will be addressed.
I ended up pre-ordering the game afterwards but we'll see how it goes.
In case anyone was complaining about the performance; you can turn on frame generation under graphical settings. Makes it much better.
Forum is that way in case you needed help with it.
It was pretty much the gamescom beta to stress test the 100 player lobbies, so I didn't have high expectations. The performance was pretty bad, to be honest. Weird ghosting with frame gen, but they claimed to have fixed it.
They did mention it will be "better" at launch, but we will see. The Scarlet Forest gameplay did show some performance improvements, but that was for the PS5. PC optimization is a different story.
They are very likely to release another beta in a couple months or so with more monsters and likely the flagship. Maybe we can either have more doomposts daily or praise afterwards. Looking forward to it.
The overall gameplay was fine, but a lot of things for them to improve, like the monsters constantly changing areas and wasting your time. Too much chasing makes it annoying as hell. Just wanted to test out my main weapons without relying on flashes and luring pods.
"So you wanted an arena then? Go play Rise, they removed monster hunting in there"
No. I want them to fight me for more than two minutes without going 600 meters away. Looking at you, Rey Dau, and the lovely 10 minute timer after I located it. It wasn't this bad in any game of the franchise.
Edit: Yes, I will be pre-ordering still. Been a fan of the games for quite a while now. As long as the loop isn't touched, the formula will hardly fail.
I can refund it anytime during the time window in case I end up unsatisfied. It's not that big of a deal.
While i could barely run Dragons Dogma 2, MH Wilds wasn´t even running at all.
Based on many complaints by people it does have the same issues as Dragons Dogma 2 too (which more than half a year after release haven´t been fixed)
Capcom deciced to use an engine, that is not made for open world games and apparently doesn´t know how to optimize it.
Take this with a huge grain of salt though. I was anticipating DD2, got fooled by it and seeing that MH Wilds will have the same issues, are just two many red flags.
For every MH fan i cross fingers, that it may turn out differently though.
I'm optimistic for wilds being at a better state at launch. They have months to fix the textures, to optimize their code, make it run better faster.
Yeah that was kind of my experience as well. One thing I noticed, if you walk near the little pond or whatever it is near the first camp the game immediately begins to tank in performance.
Will buy for sure, don't care about pre-order bonuses so I'm not sure I'll get it day 1 even, depends on other IRL stuff and if I'm playing other things.
I'm worried about two things though, apparently a big focus on the story, and some weapons like the SnS feel gutted coming from Sunbreak (and even MHWI).
I really like a lot of weapon changes ie cancellable helmsplitter, aimable SAED and AED etc, little quality of life stuff that'll let me keep up with monsters always getting crazier as time goes on, without going full silly billy like Rise did, even though Wilds will incorporate SOME cool stuff from Rise, overall I'm very hopeful, I never preorder so not doing that but I'll pick it up when it's out long as I have the proper hardware by then
The wounds in multiplayer will be absolutly pain for certain weapons. Bow can obliterate all wounds with 1 button. But CB Gets easy access to Savage Axe if they destroy a wound...
Seikret is too slow to join you when you sprint... You ahve to run in the opposite direction of the camera first or wait which is weird.
Weather effect is cool but don't overdo it (i think it's tweaked to blast every 5 min in the beta)
Everything else is really cool, weapon changes feel nice, it's liek they took the cool parts from rise and put them in world. Weapons still feel good that's really cool. I really love Charge Blade. Hammer is amazing too with the lil clutch claw hop to get in front of the monster and immediatly bonk. Hunting horn feels like you're absolutly vibing with the way you play the bubble it's so funny. Great Sword lost so much i will not consider playing with it.
Capcom is going a bit crazy imo. They’re just releasing games with re engine hoping that people buy even if nobody can run them.
Playing that beta I thought to myself that I will purchase monster hunter world instead. I want my gameplay to be crisp.
I hope it will be optimized for other playstile too like it was in world.
otewise for me this weapon will be so much boring to play.
i'm a bit scared from the map size, seems really hard to navigate without the autopiloted sekiret.
although I really like the idea of the weather change, I find that you switch from one weather to another too quickly with no middle ground as if it were an on/off switch... really ugly and not very immersive.
