I used to know the answer to this 5 years ago. But since Ive started a new and theres all this defender gear going about I just face rolled Mr Pickle.

i recommend GL wide shelling or long shelling coz damn pickle weakspot is up high in the air or any weapon that can hit his chest or face. it not GL shelling playstyle is the best coz you dont need to hit weakspot to deal consistent damage. and dont forget brace deco so the his stomp wont stop you.

probably want evasion / health boost to stop the oneshot, and be able to iframe through the big spin.

basically crack his legs till he falls over crying.

if you're ranged, you would like peirce or sticky to meme him down. dont gain too much distance because his jumps do a ton of damage and he can leap across the arena, and will spam it.

every so often he'll rear up - thats your cue to smack him again. failure means you get alligator chomped. just dodge it if you cant counter him.

mr is pretty much similar, except he uses more red death fog attacks, and has a billion hp.

What about armor?

"What armour" is the wrong question. You mix and match armour for skills.

I'd roughly prioritise Health > WEX > weapon-specific skills > Stun Res / Divine Blessing > others

Defensive skills:
  • Health Boost - more HP is always good
  • Diving Blessing - more EHP is always good
  • Stun Res - 3 points is worth if you can fit it. 2 points is sometimes not enough to save you.
  • Evade Window - 2 or 3 points for a noticeable difference in iframes, 1 point is not worth. If you know how to iframe specific attacks, EW gives you a tiny bit more room for error. If you tend to panic roll in random directions against any attack, this is a wasted skill.
  • Evade Extender - 2 or 3 points can help to roll away from wide attacks and reposition for some weapons
  • Tremor Res - 1 point helps against the small stomps (I think, I always have Tremor 1 in my comfy set and don't notice brute stomps), you still need to avoid getting hit directly. 1 point doesn't help against the big jump.
  • Dragon Res / Blight Res - Not needed, just eat Nulberry if you get dragonblight (only matters if you use element/status weapon)
  • Iron Skin - not needed, eat Adamant Seed if you get Defense Down

Offensive skills:
  • Weakness Exploit - biggest damage increase per skill
  • Attack Boost - 4 points is the sweet spot for 5% affinity. I'd rather have 3 comfort skills than go for AB7.
  • Critical Eye / Critical Boost - With 50% affinity (e.g. from WEX 3), every additional 2 CE (10% affinity) is equal to 1 CB (5% crit damage)
  • Agitator - 1 value point for 5% affinity, or 5 when you can fit it with endgame sets. In between levels aren't worth as much.
