If temporal and rocksteady mantles didn't exist....
Which ones would you use ?

I feel like Apothecary mantle, Glider mantle, Evasion mantle and Affinity booster are underrated.

Anyone has extended experience with these to confirm or infirm my suspicions ? Cause I haven't unlocked them yet in my new playthrough and never played with them in my old one because temporal and rocksteady are just so OP (yes yes I know, they are not OP if you're so good at the game that monsters don't hit you anymore, I'm not there yet)

Also I feel like temporal and rocksteady actively make me a worse player, intentionally ignoring monster patterns because I know I can

For me its no contest, the Evasion Mantle is my favorite one in the game. I think its the best designed mantle as it rewards you for playing aggressive and actively trying to i-frame attacks that you would otherwise side-step just to get the damage proc.

Aside from that my favorite tools are (in no particular order)
- Affinity Booster
This is a nice way to avoid having to take the time to tenderize a monster to get the +50% affinity (with WEX3). Alternatively combine it *with* tenderizing a monster to get 100% affinity very easily. It really opens up a lot of build choices.
- Apothecary Mantle
As a Sleep Enjoyer its hard to say no to this one. I have a GS Sleep build that sleeps most monsters in the Guiding Lands in 2-5 hits. Its really fun.
- Assassin's Hood mantle
The extra movement speed provided by this mantle can't be understated. Paired with something like HH which already gets a pretty hefty movement speed bonus from its self buff and it can get a little silly. Unfortunately there is no longer a way to obtain this mantle without the use of a Save Editor, though if you acquired it legitimately when it was available its still usable so I think its perfectly reasonable to use a Save Editor to get one.
- Dragonproof Mantle
Unlike the other elemental mantles this one isn't just defensive but its always offensive, giving you additional Dragon damage. Why don't all of the elemental mantles work like this?! Hopefully they will do this for Wilds.
- Impact Mantle
Who can say no to more KO damage?

I wouldn't do that on a regular basis but that certainly would have helped me get through a few difficult fights, good to know thanks
Yeah I didn't know until my second playthrough. Found out while grabbing the thunderproof mid fight with AT Kirin. Not something I'm prone to abuse, but I've been kinda kickin around the idea of doing a triple kill speedrun in a normal map with Lance, and it occurred to me there are a few locations I could really abuse that.

Evasion is busted, I prefer it over Rocksteady.

I still like my Vitality Mantle with 2 Peak Performance jewels in it.
Though I should probably look at trying out some of the other tools.

What's wrong with evasion mantle ? Is it OP as well ?
evasion mantle is absurdly overpowered. The evasion boost is nice, worthy of a mantle all its own. Then it adds a perfect dodge bonus, which grants 30% more damage for 20 seconds.

Hunters spend their entire build (or half a fatalis build) trying to get a 30% damage boost. Obviously it has no effect on guarding, and the perfect guard perks are far weaker anyway.

vitality mantle to replace the temporal mantle. I already don't use rocksteady so I'll toss away my health booster for the ghillie mantle.

I always use Glider mantle since it allows you to do a mounting attack by simply clawing onto the monster and jumping off.

Aside from that I'd mostly switch between Apothecary to not have to juggle with nullberries or whatever or use the impact mantle to get those juicy stuns.

i actually don't use them lol. originally I did use the temporal mantle a little before it was nerfed for some monster fights in HR, but post nerf i dont think it lasts long enough to be worth the equipment slot and the random repositioning..it just clashes with my playstyle.

i usually go for health / antidote sprayers+, or afinity sprayer+, for the short cooldown, and massive radius, or for some extra healing while prone if i keep eating attacks.

i use the impact mantle (i mean, when you use a hammer, its basically a requirement.), glide mantle (esp on coral highlands), or one of the elemental mantles for specific matchups mainly.

Impact and evasion, no contest

Glider is very very fun for getting stupidass airborne attacks, honourable mention

evasion, then depending on the monster impact or glider mantle

I was about 400 hours deep into my PS playthrough when I discovered temporal mantle when dying to Fatalis over and over, so I'd just use what I was using before it the vitality mantle and health booster lol.

glider+ is the best for pros, rocksteady and temperal is used ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
