why no chains weapon?
would seem like the perfect weapon for this game, after castlevania and god of war, chains and monsters go together so good

a game about killing monsters without a chain weapon feels off, cmon capcom

Capcom should just copy-paste from Nexon's awesome title, it has all the cool missing weapons: fists, giant totems (yes really), chains, dual swords, magic wands (not sure this fits MHW lore though), SCYTHES (yes really) ....

You.. made me really really sad now. Forcing me to remember my former favourite game. May Nexon burn in hell for what they did to it. Fortunatly they are one step away from being a insolvent company finally.

But yeah every vindictus weapon would fit in monster hunter imho. Except the staff.

Good damn I loved my evie and spin2win lann. And later kai. QQ damn. Good old times.

When I think knuckle/gauntlet weapons for MH my first thoughts go to the DMC gauntlet weapons like Ifrit, Beowulf, Gilgamesh, and Balrog. Alternating charged attacks with rapid flurries.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TzXCMxBmPeI

Stuff like that. Obviously I know DMC and MH are pretty different in pace, but it'd be nice to have more pure blunt weapon variety in MH and gauntlets offer a lot of potential for the game. At least in my smelly opinion.

And for those who say "Gauntlets don't hit hard enough to hurt the monsters", I offer you this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcd5l7OufGQ

Rocket powered punches.

"Romanticized" nothing. When I talk about the treatises used in HEMA, I mean actual martial art manuals depicting and explaining techniques and forms, and how to approach and respond to various situations. Not historical accounts from onlookers of what knights did, or minstrel-sung legends of people that may or may not have existed attributed to events that were exaggerated for one reason or another. But actual instructional material on how to fight with various weapons, things men (and in numerous cases, women) trusted their lives to. They can't be "romanticized" because any exaggeration or embellishment would get anybody who attempts to learn from those manuals killed. The current standard for scans of historical documents and manuscripts and their translations HEMA practictioners use can be found at https://wiktenauer.com/

And the thing about HEMA, is that the H is important. If it cant be attributed to a real historical source, it's not HEMA, it's fantasy.

Again, and I'm trying really hard to not bring other forums up, but you have a long history of this: you claim something is fact, then refuse vehemently to actually prove it, opting instead to just insist that you're right.

I don't care about anything you have to say, I'm asking you for the verified historical documents and accounts that prove the existence of "Shinobi" as the modern day thinks of them, because I would like to see them so I can add them to my list of things I can cite in future discussions with others if the topic comes up.

Back up the things you say, for once in your life, please.

I already quoted several articles, if you don't want to google them I'm not here to baby you. (Also I've had links reported in the past and gotten temp banned for posting them, which is why I don't anymore on steam since the mod teams tend to be babies or outright ban people for dumb reasons.)

Also I've already addressed that modern representation is not entirely correct. Jinichi himself has even said that. Please stop spouting garbage and misrepresenting the argument. What I said was that the shinobi DID exist and we have HISTORICAL PROOF of them participating in sieges, assassinations and even banditry.

Also HEMA still practices several very strange tactics and weapon combinations that we have EXTREMELY limited sources on and many historical "experts" go as far as to use old artwork as their only means of proof. If you deny this then I question how much HEMA you've actually done as a common point of contention in that community is whether or not artwork can be considered "historical proof" of certain styles or actions.

Much of what is known today regarding actual ninja activity is taken from preserved scrolls of the Sengoku Period (1467 - 1600). Historians have found references to ninja activity as early as the 12th century and in the Nanbukucho (1336-1392) and Onin Wars (1467-1477), but it was only in the Sengoku period where their use became more widely known, with the emergence of the two major neighboring ninja clans; the Iga and Koga.

And lastly, you are shifting the goalpost STILL. The argument was "did these weapons exist." The fact is yes, they did - even if not used by shinobi, we have proof of masters and literal training regiments based on the kusuragama. You are wrong.

I never said they didn't exist, and you're doing that thing you usually do where you just make up ♥♥♥♥, claim I said it, and then tell me I'm wrong because you can't actually argue without 50 thousands strawmen.

The burden of proof is on you, I'm not going to spend hours googling vague "quotes" for things that may or may not exist. If all you have to go on is just your insistence that the things you say are true and nothing else, then once again, I'm going to have to assume that you're talking completely out of your ass.

I don't get you honestly. Do you like, have an addiction to pretending to be smart on the steam forums? Because every time I come across you on any forum you're throwing a fit at somebody, making a bunch of wild and baseless claims, and when you get asked to back up the things you say, you recoil, insist that you're correct, come up with a bunch of strawmen arguments to let you continue to act like you know better than everybody else, and you keep yelling and yelling until you say something ♥♥♥♥♥♥ enough to get a valve mod to ban you, then several days later you show up on a different random forum doing the exact same thing.

All I'm asking is for a link and citations to things that you say because I'm interested in finding one of the only known verified historical documents/accounts that definitively prove quite a lot of Japanese historical societies wrong by showing that Shinobi/Ninja as the modern stereotype presents them actually existed, because that's cool as ♥♥♥♥. One would think that somebody so sure of themselves would be happy to back up what they say, but yet again you don't. You just get angry, come up with strawmen arguments, and insist that everything you say is correct.

It would take you LESS effort to just link the sources than it would to spend the time typing out a bunch of angry nonsense I've already made it clear I'm not going to read outside of basic skimming.

Just link your damn sources lmfao

It's not hard.

Useless? Kinda goes against the monster hunter philosophy of pseudorealism-ish.
Might as well add magic spellbooks as a weapon type

But who knows, maybe capcom can do chain weapons right.
lol pseudorealism. You're talking about a game where the gunlance, switch axe, and charge blade exists. lmfao comparing a chain weapon to a magic spellbook, you're silly.

It's not hard.

I already gave you sources, you just refuse to acknowledge them (you've completely ignored the scrolls I've mentioned that can literally be found and read online, including a historically accurate book translated from these scrolls mentioning the shinobi and their training practices.)

I've even given you names and people and you're still refusing to acknowledge it.

Why should I give you sources when every single source so far (some being flatout quotes) has been dismissed as "WELL THAT'S JUST TRADITION DREEOBDOSAV." There's no point in speaking with you if that's all you're going to chock stuff up too.

Lastly, I have already stated that the "modern interpretation" is not completely correct; but that ninja clans and their culture did very much exist, and weapons such as the kusuragama (which is part of our modern interpretation) WERE used and very much existed.

Also are you unable to read? Like honestly? I feel like you're just arguing because you have this weird obsession with me at this point (the constant bringing up of irrelevant posts, the personal attacks, etc). I'm AGREEING with you that many of the modern interpretations are NOT CORRECT; but that SOME of it is. You have nothing backing your claims up either yet you demand proof from someone else, which I find laughable.

That being said, this will really be my last post here and I'm unsubbing. No reason to continue this farce when the person I'm talking to obviously isn't reading what I'm saying

Edit: Also you literally did try to dispute their usage in one of your first posts.
