Val Hazak effluvium

Ok, I'm going out of my mind here. I picked up a new weapon, and I'm trying to farm HR Val Hazak. Problem is, his effluvium is cutting right through me, and I can't seem to stop it. I'm running Effluvia Resistance 3, Effluvial Expert 1 AND the All Ailments Negated from Teostra Orphee's Hunting Horn, all of which have no effect. What am I missing?

Basically, you're going to take damage from the clouds. You're meant to fight through it. Bring a health booster and vitality mantle to tank through the damage, and get a health augment on your weapon to steal life with your attacks.

are you saying the damage from the effluvia attacks? because that i'm pretty sure only gets lowered with raw defense. also Effluvial expert is only for the passive damage in some of the rotten vale areas.

you just need E, resistance 3 and health boost 3. That's it. Maintain your hp at 90-100% hp, don't stand in front of him and always stay close to him. He is the easiest of all the elders due to the amount of openings he leaves to you

If the boss does start stacking clouds on the ground, move out of them and try to lure him to you. Even with passive healing, multiple clouds stacked on each other can deal some hefty damage.

Ah, thanks. I don't remember having this problem when I'd first fought him, but it's been a while. Life Steal would be great, but I haven't unlocked any way to do that yet.
