There are 2 ways to kill rajang. You either git gud or you cheese the absolute sh!t out of him with sticky bowgun.
Also his hitzones are not bad, and Hammer can keep him down pretty easily. The problem comes from having to hit the tail I imagine, but unless he's tempered you can facetank him pretty easily, that's what I did/do.
There is a reason he's the only normal monster that when he's tempered he drops Greater Spiritvein gem. This is only otherwise dropped by Tempered Elder Dragons.
If you're in a group of friends, someone should be using Sticky because it does knock him off his feet quite a bit.
