Maintenance on mantle jewel slot?
My friends told me to put maintenance jewel on the mantles,
it will reduce the cooldown by 20%

but I tried to look it up in forums and discussion ..
some people said it doesn't work like that?

isnt maintenance for the cooldown after usage? so by the time the mantle expires there would be no effect of the maintenance? im confused :S

It would work if you carry 2 mantles with both maintenance equipped. It reduces cooldown on each other.

but if thats the case .. isn't it better to put it on our equipment? so it will work for both mantles too
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think any skills you put in the mantle will only activate when you put it on.

So yes, if you need maintenance, put it in your main equipment instead

But then you would be sacrificing some other skill. I want Critical Eye and Health Boost switched on 100% of the time, not just when I have a mantle available.

Yeah, any skills that are on the mantle are only active during its duration. If you really wanted to put Tool Specialist into your mantle, it's probably best to put it on ones that have a short cooldown time and a long up time.

I don't use Tool Specialist myself. I just put in skills that compliment the mantle I'm using, like running Divine Blessing for Rocksteady, Airborne with Glider, Elemental Res for Elemental Proofs, etc

it does make the other one recharge faster the Meta before was to put Challenger/Maintenance into both Glider slots and double Challenger in the other with an ele mantel to get 100% uptime and 2 extra ranks of Agitator. but its only really worth using Maintenance in Glider because its 3 min duration gets back your other mantle most of the way for Evasion/Rocksteady/Temporal or gives 100% uptime with other high duration low CD mantles.

For myself I only use divine blessing and recovery up to put in the mantle.

I don't run maintenance, and I've only seen it once when my friend used it in guiding lands for gathering stuff.

It's better to just throw in Part breaker into them both if you got the choice. You just need 1 part breaker on you too.

You'll keep destroying parts so much easier.

You equip these on the Elemental mantles because they have a long duration and share the same cool down.

Usually I just put Maintenance+x-skill on Glider Mantle and don't put Maintenance on other Mantles because Glider's cooldown is so fast.

2x Destroyer + Maintenance gem on my Glider Mantle and 2x Destroyer gem on a elemental mantle will give you 100% uptime on part destroyer since Glider mantle has a long duration and a short cooldown by the time one mantle is wares off the other one will be off cooldown.

the short of it, skill gmes in mantles are typically for temp bonuses you want along side their normal effect.

for example, vitality mantle, one could put into it 2 points of divine protection. why? simple, if it procs while equipped you just effectively increased the mantles HP. who needs temporal mantle when you can put 2 evade extender in a evasion mantle? etc.

so your best off putting the skills you always want to have in your armor and weapon first, then put bonuses into your mantles. like i run a glider with an expert/flight and a expert+ jewel, 15% more affinity when worn, cooldown is short, uptime is great, and allows for mounting attacks to be executed very easily, and the Flight portion gives me more damage with said jumping attacks.

Depending on the matchups, I sometimes throw a couple footing jewels in there, like vs Deviljho, Safi or Uragaan. Fireproof and x2 footing jewels makes Safi a joke, if you can avoid her flailing.
