About a couple dozen hours if you focus the main story, and a few dozen more for the expansion's story. Then easily hundreds of additional hours if you do the side content, collecting things, exploring, optimizing your equipment, and more.

It also highly depends on how good you are. If you aren't particularly good at this style of video games and often get stuck on different "walls" (hard fights you need to get better to overcome) the length of the playthrough can quickly multiply. Monster Hunter is 100% a skill based game, and the speed at which you'll progress and overcome obstacles is based on your skill alone.

What do you mean when you say beating the game ? And with or without the Iceborn DLC ?

The answer can vary a lot depending on what you search by playing the game (only story, fights, helping ppl...), what you want to do (completionist or not ?), how you play (every thing is smooth or you hit a wall and need to retry a lot), if you upgrades your armors / weapons, use the tools given by the game (clutch claw, traps, bombs, augments...), play solo or multiplayer .....
The game is skilled base. The better you are, the faster you will be.

The basic "i play for the story and do only main quest" ? :
- Finish all World main quests only (aka story) ? 20-30h
- Finish all World + Iceborn (DLC) main quests only (aka story) ? 45-65h

The advanced "i play the game till the end by doing everything i can" ? :
- Finish all World main quests + sidequests ? 100+ h
- Finish all World + Iceborn (DLC) main quests + sidequests ? 200+ h

- Do you add event quests + siege + special quests to the mix ?
I don't know how many more hours ... 75-150+ h ?

The expert "100% + all achievements + best weapon maxed + best armors maxed + all the cosmetics stuff + all endemic lifes + all monsters maxed + ....." aka the completionist ?
I don't know, howlongtobeat says ~ 350h main game + 400h Iceborn

The funny guy playing to help ppl and have fun ?
For this one, you play as long as you wish = 1000h ? 5000h ? 10000h ? .

In short : from 20 hours to as many hours a you want to sink in MHW

If you never played a MH game and try to beat it solo (outside the forced mp quests) without any outside information and want to beat all main monsters, including the hardest, I guess never, or in approx. 1000 hours.

depends on your skill
speedrunner finished in under 10h
the average joe needs 20-60h

I start most of my sessions with a warm up in the training area. It's a bit like a fighting game in that you want to lab out what your weapon (character/class essentially) is capable of, and do drills.

I'm newish to Monster Hunter, played World for a couple weeks back on ps4 back when Iceborne was new, but bounced off of it due to long loading screens and poor performance. On PC I've been playing for maybe 3 months now and have reached endgame. I did probably 70-80% of the side content.

It's gonna be an exercise in frustration solo if you don't like to practice and improve like that, but there are weapon choices that have low skill requirements like the bowguns.

What do you consider as beating a game?
This game can be anywhere between 100 and 500 hours.

If lets say your goal is the point you can move on to IceBorne then complete the story and then simply speak to the Feisty Fiver and head out, but there is 100s of hours worth of things left to do in MHW with some real hard monsters left to kill

about 300 to 500 hours.
