I'm sorry I'm insufficiently articulate to convince you. There really is a serious dearth of resources that concisely explain the difference, too - I recommend this[www.who.int] resource by the World Health Organization and this resource[www.plannedparenthood.org] from Planned Parenthood. I'm sure there are better ones out there, these are just the best I could find in like 20ish minutes of googling.
All the same, I'd also note that at least where I live nearly every major medical, psychological, and linguistic organization (ex: APA[dictionary.apa.org], AMA[www.ama-assn.org], Merriam-Webster[www.merriam-webster.com]) asserts the validity of sex and gender being distinct things. Your view stands in opposition not only to the majority view on the subject, but also the overwhelming scientific and professional consensus on the matter.
Well I dunno about you but I grew up before that was the case, and I'm not so old. I'm well aware the ideology has captured the institutions, I watched it happen over the course of my life.
As I understand it Christianity had it's time at the forefront of belief in our institutions. It'll take a while to weed the woke out as well, I expect. Here's something you aught to be able to come to the table with me on though;
I am as captured by the ideologies of my time as you are. I was brought up in the belief that we are created equal and that our differences should be celebrated. I was with you guys through gay marriage, where you lost me is in deciding that appearances DID matter, that sticks and stones AND WORDS could break not just your bones, but also your will to live and that you were going to guilt trip everyone else with it if you didn't get your way.
I'm pro individual freedoms, and anti 'politically correct speech' or thought control. I wish you guys the best, I do. But you can only force me to speak a second language when I am entitled to speak my native tongue.
Just as religion has been forced to be truly separate from state, yours will get over it eventually. Stop caring about stuff that doesn't matter, you'd be more accepted if you weren't being so controlling. We all have to put up with hearing things we don't like and we are allowed to disagree about almost everything as long as we can get along.
Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.
Mental health is real and supremely important for the wellbeing of a person. If you like, I am more than happy to pull up some of the many, many studies and surveys which demonstrably show that it suffers tremendously when people are subjected to verbal abuse or aggression, social ostracization, or have their identity and self worth attacked. Yes, words can and do get people to kill themselves.
Censorship isn't good...but at the same time, I'd really rather this place not turn into 4Chan and allow any kind of behavior whatsoever. Standards of conduct are what make Steam usable as a discussion space, because moderator-enforced civility prevents threads from degenerating too badly under the assault of trolls or degenerating into vitriolic tirades.
Intersex people still have a maximum of one set of fully functional genitalia.
Sometimes none. They at most are a functioning member of ONE biological sex.
I don't dispute any of that - the point I was making is that sex is not a true binary in humans.
Depends how you look at it, I suppose. Usually when referring to any other species we'd define it based on reproductive capacity,.
Which would be a true binary in our case.
Your hardware, including your brain, is either male or female. If men start engaging in traditionally female behaviors, what do we have? New patterns of male behavior, that's what.
Polite society is the social construct. We're not responsible for other people's mental health, that's a personal problem.
armor sets are NOT unnisex, and they will look different depending on your gender. male armor sets are more closed and bulky. While Female armor sets are more revealing and open.
If you spent 10% of time you spend caring what's in someone's pants actually playing those games you'd be much, MUCH happier as people.
you are either being disingenuous or you are completely clueless, the reason people do that is not unwarranted, almost everything that is woke descends into a bad game.
a game that appeals to the 7.1% is not a game at all, its just pride and intolerance disguised as tolerance propaganda.
It manifestly isn't - heck, we've been arguing specifically about the exceptions to that rule this entire time! There are people born with both male and female hardware, both genetically and phenotypically.
As for behavior and its relation to sex, see the sources I linked. Most notably, it's the cultural association of behaviors as related to sex - playing with barbies probably wouldn't be considered "manly" even if a man did it, for example, because it doesn't align with the cultural expectation of masculinity.
Everyone's responsible to try and avoid being a jackass to the people they interact with. That mostly covers the mental health aspect.
I'm not saying that anything rude ought to be censored or that people should be banned for one dickish comment, but patterns of behavior that contribute to creating a hostile environment should be curtailed. If someone is consistently insulting, demeaning, or attacking the identities of other people, they're a net negative for the discussion space and should be given the boot.
I don't owe religion such consideration either, I take the lord's name in vain on the regular. They don't confront me on it all the time like the wokies do, and if they did they would get the same speech. I was anti censorship back when they thought it was cool too.
I'm not insulting anyone in particular, they are choosing to feel insulted by basic terminology that was, and continues to be the norm despite the new state religion.
I am being insulted by insinuating that I mean any insult by calling a man a man, or a woman a woman. Your side only cares about the mental health and feelings of certain individuals at the cost of the mental health of us all, if we're gonna act like that matters.
It's a personal problem, I'd make a personal consideration on a personal level with someone I knew in person. That doesn't change the truth nor does it give you guys a good reason to shut us up. The more you resist free speech the more we have to practice it, bit like copyright law, enforce it or lose it.
