No they shouldn't, at all. The "issue" here is that AT Velk came after Fatalis so we are all nicely whipped into shape, and I'm willing to bet you're using some Fatalis armor pieces which are pretty much completely broken in terms of power.
Re: AT Nergi. No. It was awful and stupid, all the vanilla ATs were trash.
I had so much fun doing over and over and over, AT nergi and AT xeno.
Shes so easy because the changes to her is just hit like a dump truck just like Fatty but with Fatty armor you can get evade window extended to 5/5 with ease making all her attacks a breeze to avoid.
I still think that AT Velkhana is one of the best AT elders and she's definetly on the same level as AT Xeno'Jiiva for me. AT Velkhana got dragged down a bit by the fact that she released after Fatalis and that's really unfortunate as it is an amazing execution of the AT concept.
She's probably the last AT elder, altough we don't know that for sure yet. It does seem very likely at this point.
She seems easy because of the current meta situation, but without Fatalis armor she is quite a bit harder. She still suffers from the same weaknesses as regular Velkhana does and she has a lot of fairly predictable moves in addition to moves that leave her wide open for an extended amount of time. AT Velkhana does punish mistakes and one hit can quickly spiral out of control due to her tendency to combo her abilities in quick succession.
Overall I think that AT Velkhana and AT Xeno"Jiiva are the best AT elders. It's just really unfortunate that they released Fatalis earlier then AT Velkhana.
They had to design AT Velk with the Fatalis armor issue in mind.
You want a harder AT Velk a la AT Nergi school of difficulty? Just let her movecancel any breath, bite, tail whip or run attack into an extremely gorilla slam move that oneshots the player. And the slam can also cancel into itself repeatedly.
I'm not sure if thats entirely the case. She was put into the game about the same time he was, just staggered release times. Fatalis armor is essentially a "thanks for playing our game" reward to the community (much like ahtal-ka armor in MHGU), so our hunters are considerably more powerful than they were when AT Nergi was new.
