A Farewell to Zinogre
I absolutely love this quest, no more GL mining.

I'm just happy they finally added the mystery and mythical purple coal.

Although the GL is faster, it's definitely not as fun as murdering a Zinogre that seems to have difficulties staying angry for more than 30 seconds lol, wallbangs galore!

yeah this is definently more fun than running laps around the GL poking nodes.

hmmmmmmmm.

are these shinies... affected by Geology 3?

Yeah, I'm trying to play this quest as much as I can before it's gone next week.

Check it and report back, Xilo!

But I'm going to assume no.

yeah i'd assume the same. was thinking it might because of the logic:

1 point affects bone piles, shinies from GL monsters count as bone drops (but not for ALL shiny drops off monster in GL because those do NOT drop bones.)

so 3 points to get a boost from a mining node, dragon coal is essentially all that drops from the shinies AND the carve (but i'll assume carving master for that part.) the logical conclusion would be at the very least shiny drops should act as mining nodes.

i'll have to poke this tomorrow and see. i've grown too fond of my fatalis armor set, i havn't had the desire of doing a good luck carving set with geology 3 in it for this quest just to see if there is a possibility.

Yeah it might not do anything, but you never know. Could be some ultra secret thing that gives you a million coal in the rewards when you beat the quest with Geology 3 in your set, lol.

It might be better using a capture master + luck set instead and just gaining bonus rewards from the capture though, might be more reliable I dunno.

I tried Geology 3, it didn't work.

You can also use your net on Zinogre's back when it's knocked down to get gold and silver eggs fyi.

Thanks for following up on that, or being wise enough to check in advance etc!

Does Geology 3 work on a downed Radobaan or Uragaan?

I know they picked Zinogre because he was the most hunted, also picking Brute Tigrex because he was the least hunted, but it would have made more sense to put an extremely chill giant Uragaan into the arena and have a quest where the mechanic was knocking him down and then mining his belly / back for lots and lots of coal, lol. He'd calm down quick so you could wallbang him lots for more mining opportunities.

But I guess he's a vanilla monster and Zinogre is an Iceborne monster, so it makes more sense thematically to have Zinogre there.
They should have added other monsters, specially the least hunted ones instead of doggo, I'm so tired of killing it for decos already.

They are, least hunted(brute tigre) will be the next quest.

I mean yeah it's really nice that I can fight to get that stuff but I would have preferred almost any other monster over Zinogre. It's the most hunted monster for a reason and it's not because of how fun of a fight it is as everyone surely knows.

If you're like me, who didn't farm him for decos, he's pretty "fresh" as not many quests require it. lol But I can see it be really annoying if you wasted so much time on him already.
