and the ice falling on your head from thin air every time she makes that horrible sound is the dumbest thing i ever seen, you have to dodge that garbage + the follow up attack at the same time it's like you're fighting two monsters this fight is so stupid:steamfacepalm:

she's no way near me and the ice just automatically spawns above my head while she's attacking the Palico how does this make any sense? stupid as ♥♥♥♥

who else. on topic, ice resist do the trick to avoid one hit ice laser, except you get 2 hit from freeze beam and ice blast nova.

Obviously, since the account doesn't own the game.

Only annoying thing to me is when she chains the sweeping beam, she spams that thing like crazy and it isnt like its even hard to avoid, its just obnoxious.

I think youre right.
It also appears that the OP doesn't own the game.

As for the topic, all of her moves can be avoided and you do not need an extremely high ice resistance to complete this fight. I did use the iceproof mantle as it greatly reduces the damage of almost all of her moves.
It goes without saying that you need to bring an elderseal weapon for this fight to deal with the aura mechanic and of course the Fatalis gear and weapons are highly recommended.

I struggled a lot more with Fatalis and I beat AT Velkhana on my first attempt. AT Velkhana is definetly one of the tougher fights, but Fatalis and Alatreon are a lot harder in my personal opinion. Most of AT Velkhana's attacks can be countered and theyre fairly telegraphed.
I did notice that AT Velkkhana likes to use the same move in rapid succession from time to time similar to regular Velkhana, but this is actually a weakness that you can exploit if you know how to counter that particular move.

Did you know if you clutch on her while she's doing her dash attack even with Rocksteady/Temporal, you get knocked off and instantly pinned? Also your temporal is now depleted because that attack hits for more than 5 times. Like wtf

Even fatalis and Alatreon did not pin you on their dash attacks. It's like they gave a final ♥♥♥♥ you to clutch claw. ♥♥♥♥ you too clutch claw, never come back in future MH games.

Did her once so far and didn't see the pin once. Guess got lucky lul.

Wait for her to do a long telegraphed attack to flinch shot her or to weaken her parts. The sweeping icebeam leaves her wide open for an extended period of time and it's a great move to counter with the clutch claw.

You just have to pick the right moment to use it.

Haven't even fought her yet. I ought to stop slacking.

23 (38) Ice Resistance good enough for the fight? Only thing I know about it is some pros like to purposefully get Ice Blighted, then use Resuscitate to mitigate the stamina penalty while gaining a free Evade Extender 5 or whatever. Any useful / necessary skills?

this fight is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nightmare she's more difficult to hit than Fatalis and once again they added a 30 mins timer limit

if there was a guinness world record for the most anti fun game design capcom would be unbeatable

For me , I just rotate temporal and iceproof with tool specialist 5 and my mantle uptime is around 95% of the fight . Nth can oneshot me and I have only ice resist 4 . And these skills are not that hard to fit with fatalis armor . I like Resuscitate in this fight , I even use this in my TA wiki training .

I prefer having 20+ Ice resist so I don't have to deal with Iceblight stamina reduction over some Coalascence/Crisis. Some of the AOE is pretty sudden too, so having high Ice resist feels safer altogether.

Mb it's weapon dependant if you can deal with the stamina debuff or not. Dual Blades the fight is still same ol' "spam beyblade over Velk's back"-shtick tho.

I thought the big meme of this fight was Elderseal? But we're all likely using Fatalis weapons now and they come with High Elderseal, so...

It takes me 13 mins to kill AT Velkhana with GS, and I bet it would be a lot faster with DB. It's really easy to avoid most of his attacks if you stick next to his sides. The ring of ice can be avoided the same way as Alatreon's ring of fire (Jump into the middle after the explosion). The double laser can be side stepped and the sweeping laser can be superman dived, rolled through or avoided by running up to the side of his head. If you aren't a sitting duck then you will never get hit by the falling icicles. You can also clutchclaw AT Velkhana during the supernova to avoid everything.
