Leather Layered Armor, and how to access Iceborne DLC

I've tried to look up many a tutorials on youtube and in the Discussions tab but everything I find is years old. I'm also new to the game, only having about 13.6 hours.
Also I don't want to install any mods or anything for extra layered armor, if anyone could help with my little predicament that would be wonderful!

The majority of layered armor is unlocked from the Guiding Lands, which is after the story of Iceborne. Iceborne can be access immediately after the base game's story is completed.

Play through HR then some NPCs appear in Astera. They lead to the quest that leads to the new biome.

In other words:
Finish base game (most likely around 20-40 hours)
Finish Iceborne (another 20-40 hours after base game is finished)
Get to MR70 to get the R10/11(?) and MR100 to get the R11/12 layered armors.

Most of the hours will depend on you

just adding you need a tempered version of the monster to get the layered armor (pick the shinny material they drop)
