I remember seeing a video of the making of MHW, and they were talking about the different design philosophies they had to have. They talked about how in previous games that they could have a monster jump at you then artificially slide it through the air at a faster rate, so it would always be able to hit you. Then they said that they couldn't do that in MHW because it would not look realistic or believable in High Def.
I was legitimately impressed by this, and I think that design decisions like this are part of why the game did so well.
Then fast forward a bit, whoever the """genius" in charge of Iceborne was decided to go ahead and add that lame fast forward mid-jump BS anyway. And sure enough, it looked stupid AF.
So if they can't even step away from BS gimmicks in their biggest game's follow up, even after calling specifically calling out that BS gimmick, then their is no way they are going to reevaluate anything.
The ones in this game are such trash, and the one you can avoid by hiding behind a rock or a gate give you so little time you need to know in advance when its coming and you need to stay very close to them otherwise you dont have time to reach them.
Like with fat, i had to bait him near the gate so that when he did his attack id have enough time to sheathe, climb the ledge, pull the lever. Hell even then if you arent quick you still get carted.
I think its just lame thing to have unblockable screen wide attacks like this. Like the behemoth one i thought i could outrun but despite being like 2-3 screen away it still kill me. Hell i bet if you brought a friend in, had them sit across the entire map and wait, that behemoth attack would still kill them? Never used a farcaster but noticed when i equipped one for that fight it was blocked.....Lame....How the tf does the camp and handler survive?
You can also escape with that one item to the camp, but in order to pull it off, you have to predict it happening. As it becomes blocked after he activates it. So far I only had a team that slayed it once, hiding behind rocks and protecting them during fight is the way to go.
