Something about World I just realised.
So, you can't access Event quests if you have no internet right?
This means, if you killed Alatreon - you'd have no access to any quest that lets you fight it again. So you're locked out of farming it, the weapons, and the armour.
The same applies to Kulve Taroth (MR), the same applies to *fatalis.*

That seems like a pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ huge thing to overlook. Wonder why they didn't just make those quests optional quests?

same thing goes for heaps of other games that all are hosted to a server that the company in charge of the game will have to be either maintaining themselves or paying others to do it.
is a good reason why so many people want CD rooms or some form of physical copy to remain because of these reasons

half the event quests are so stupid to be events and should be optionals though imo..

ya, games as a service suck.

I don't actually even feel like I own this game... I just payed $30 to play it for a while.

Wasn't Alatreon itself added as an update, aka DLC? Meaning: If you didn't have the internet, then you would have never been able to play it in the first place.

And don't act like this is new. MH1 on the PS2 has online features that are "basically" locked out now too.

It's a reasonable expectation that most people have internet these days, so it's not that much of an overlook, but rather a way to keep events and timed end game multiplayer content somewhat crowded. Not to mention, that most event quests are just about things you can do anyway outside of said event (so i would estimate the things you've listed as being less than 1 % of the games content)

Also on top of that something like this often gets used as soft DRM, which isn't as disruptive as some other options.

It's rather the opposite, the retail areas in shops shrink from year to year, because most people these days rather buy digital copies in online shops. Many people doesn't even have a DVD drive at this point anymore. The majority of players started in like the mid 00s or later, at which point Steam already dominated the market, so most younger players doesn't even have this kind of connection to CDs like many older people have.

it might be reasonable to assume that most people have internet, but it's not reasonable to require it for every game that doesn't need it.

pretty ridiculous it takes lobying from the US military to keep most things on console playable offline >.>

Funny thing is, that without online features you wouldn't have gotten any of these things anyway, the only difference would've been, that you simply don't know what you would've missed.
Edge cases or not, I still think it's... not great that a lot of this stuff is just *gone* if you lose your connection to the 'net.

ya... either if would have shipped unfinished and been crap and no one would have liked it or it would ship complete with all the DLC and everyone would have bought the same product I did... ya know, cuz I bought it when it was all there and not in little bits and pieces for like $200 >.>

edit: in fact I won't buy any game if there's evidence they plan to release more DLC. I can wait until it's a finished product and priced reasonably.

I also don't buy EA titles. sell me a finished product or ♥♥♥♥ off. I'm not funding your development unless you give me shares.

stop whining and use the permanent event quest mod if you are part of a minority which is living in the woods and can only access internet every few month

you are aware there are also satellite inet contracts available, which can be accessed from literally everywhere like starlink, kouiper or konnect
while starlink has best latency compared to older stuff

You could not be a ♥♥♥♥ for no reason. THere's that too, y'know.
(Also, console players can't mod :D Not that I am one.)

I'd like to mention that, MHTri had all of HR locked behind an internet connection to Loc Lac (capcom servers)

it's also ridiculously expensive and has garbage upload speeds >.>

Upload speed is irrelevant in this case. You don't need to upload anything to solo event quests.

I guess you aren't aware how the internet works... not going to get very far without upload speed.

satallite internet is for like... checking email and other old person stuff. not gaming.

I assume eventually theyll patch the game to have events just locally running 24/7. Didnt they do that with some of the older games
