Hunt a Shrieking Legiana quest??? ARE THEY SERIOUS?
Every time I do this quest and I start to do well a SECOND LEGIANA comes in to fight me. Not to mention there is a Boriath in this area that if he even sees me, relentlessly attacks and stalks me all across the map. (never seen that before in this game!)

Look, I get this game is hard, but I made it this far and never encountered such a cheap difficulty spike. I even tried SOS flares and every time the crew wipes because 2-3 monsters at the same time is just impossible.

What could I be doing wrong?

Use dung pods. You're going to burn through them when Shrieking is on the same map as a normal Legiana, but it's better than fighting both at once.

Rockstedy mantle + flinch shot them into each other, and when the regular legiana is enraged just dung pod it away. when it shows up later unenraged, repeat flinch shot.

if you are struggling with something and the SoS isnt giving you results, you can always post a session id on here. Pretty much guaranteed someone more reliable will come in and help out. SoS is a mixed bag tbh

Use dung pods or if you can hold out long enough until the shreiking got red eye-con you can lure them out of the area away from the other one. If you can't, just stay away and wait until they go separate ways

Dungs pod the normal legiana.

Hope OP doesn't freak out when they find out about the Shrieking Legiana + Legiana quest.
Legianas call for help in MR, so if there's a Shrieker and a Legiana on the map they will both show up to the fight. The same way Rathians and Rathaloses will help eachother out. Unlike with monsters that have turf issues, these monster will not attack eachother either so you're really stuck in a 2v1 fight. You can dung pod the monster but the next call for help the helper will show up again. That said, if you play it right, the second legiana shouldn't give you too much trouble.

If there's a Shrieking Legiana and a normal Legiana on the same map, they'll call the other one when one is engaged.

Same goes for Rathan and Rathalos, Gold Rathian and Silver Rathalos.

Lunastra and Teostra don't actively call for the other but if they do meet, they have their mating dance, which is a uber attack in which you either run away or get a free cart back to camp.

The problem is solved by either use a dung pod to repel one out. This doesn't work against Elder Dragon though.

Or if one is enraged (red eye icon on map), pull it out of the area and the enraged one will follow you. Challenger Mantle will also do the same.

Also, use poison as legianas are both weak to it iirc. Shrieker does a puking poison motion as well

I use a switch axe. How can I use a poison effect with it? Also, how do I use the dung pod? I literally only melee'd my way. Other than that I use the hook shot thingy to get on top of the monsters. Sorry guys.

You could give your palico a poison weapon if you want that effect. Dung pods are slinger ammo that you can equip and fire at the monster with your slinger. To do so, you press LT (assuming you are using a controller. It's the button to aim), aim at the monster you want gone and press RT (button used to fire slinger ammo and button that you use for switching from sword to axe mode and back).
Some monsters, in my experience, take 2 or 3 dung pods before they will leave, but aside from the ones dung pods don't work on, most leave fairly quickly.

any chance you can tell me how to use the slinger with mouse and keyboard? I can't seem to figure out how. I don't get it. Is the slinger the same as the hook that you use to get on top of monsters?

Id personally say rathians swaxe would be good for poison, and if you mean "how does it work" its pretty much just "keep attacking"
It was the meta until raging and fatalis, but still good for poison and affinity
Veritas Feb 11, 2021 @ 11:22pm
...you got to master rank without ever firing the slinger? Christ.

First make sure you carry dung pods in inventory. Scroll to dung pods in the time you need it the equip it. Press the middle button and aim to the monster and shoot it using ctrl. I change my aim button to C to make it easier since i use ig
