What weapons can tenderize a monster?
The tutorial and some threads I saw online said only 7 of 14 weapons in the game can weaken (tenderize) a monsters body part to make it take increased damage.

However I also see several guides talking about how any weapon can tenderize a monster and it depends on whether it is a light or heavy weapon.

What information is correct now? Was this changed over time with a patch or anything? Would like to know since im a Ligh Bow Gun user and its kinda confusing for me.

Any weapon can tenderize a monster. But weapons that drop ammo on clutched hit would need a second hit to tenderize. But there is a trick - if you whack them few times, the same way you turn a monster for a wallbang and then hit them - you will also tenderize them in once clutch claw application.

Tenderizing can be done by any weapon, heavy on their first try, light weapons on their 2nd.

Clutch Claw boost makes it easier and allows heavy weapons to gain special ammo reliable.

Attacking with the claw (not weapon attack) at the same body spot allows you to tenderize that body part after a few attacks, combining that with the weapon attack is a good idea.

Nothing special changed.

All weapons can tenderize.
Heavy weapons do it in one hit.
Light weapons require two hits.

You probably heard that half the weapons can tenderize in one hit and confused the two statements.

To add what was said above, there are exceptions. I am aware of one, SnS usually needs two attacks to tenderize, however it also has a move that allows you to latch onto the monster after a roll, and if you directly follow that up with an attack it will tenderize the part with just one. The only downside is that the move is finicky and it's easy to latch on to a part you didn't want to.

Not sure if there are other weapons with similar mechanic.

As said previously, all weapons can tenderize a monster.
Heavy weapons do it in one hit.
Light weapons require two hits, but will drop slinger ammo.

Heavy weapons: Charge Blade, Great Sword, Hammer, Heavy Bowgun, Hunting Horn, Lance, Switch Axe.
Light weapons: Bow, Dual Blades, Insect Glaive, Light Bowgun, Longsword, Sword and Shield, Gunlance (the fact they consider this one a light weapon still confuses me).

GL isn't a light weapon as its more that it really needs slinger ammo for its special wyvern thingy , that's why its in that category

This.
There is also a jewel that allows light weapons to tenderize in one go. Best of both worlds, if you can fit it in your build.

Do note that DB and SnS have moves that make it "technically" one hit tenderization, but its still two hits

The combo is so long and unwieldy that it is not worth it.
