Guardian armor
Weird design choice to have that in the game.. I just started playing today and thought it was a starter set at first, but seeing how nothing can hurt me and googling a bit i realized its some OP armor to carry you through the game..
Weird..

Congratulations for dodging that bullet on your own. Forgoing the Guardian armour as a new player means you're probably going to be much better off as a hunter in the long run. Welcome to Astera, and good hunting.

Guardian Armor is really for double dippers and people making second characters

Aye. Offering an easy difficulty mode is kind of fine, but replacing a whole section of the game (namely itemization) with an easy mode equipment tier is the weirdest way to go about it.

It’s not easy mode though. It is a short cut. It’s only purpose is to get you to end game ASAP. Once you are at end game, you are on the same playing field as everyone else.

Use the guardian armor as a leaning tool
learn to dodge and move about without getting killed in one boss move
take it off for one round and see

Guardian armor are for people who

- want easy mode
- want to rush to iceborn content
- are an old vet who can't be bother with low rank grind again

If you don't fit in any of these group, you are better off not touch it.

The big issue with it being an OP armor set given to everyone at the start is that it results in new players not learning the game (the crafting loop, the grind, the real difficulty). Then, these new players get walled in Iceborne because thy don't understand the game.

Regardless, what's done is done. Hopefully, Capcom doesn't make the same lazy design decision in Monster Hunter Wilds.
I think the biggest mistake is the armor’s description in the game. If I recall, it’s advised for new players, which, as you have already read, is far from the truth. Sadly, what others state is accurate. So many SOS requests from defender players who need to be carried…just avoid it and it’s weapons and you will become a good hunter with practice.

This is the exact problem I've had with MMORPGs and the designed push for the playerbase to effectively exist in endgame raiding. There's just so much game content, so much world to play in and, instead of investing in that for #reasons, MMORPG developers focus on the smallest segment of the playerbase and smallest content option. It's weird.

But in respect to MH:W, I only did a few missions in Iceborne before stopping. Each time I went through, both my solo and multi-player characters on the PS, I put ~100 hours into each character without really messing with Iceborne. There's a good bit to do in World.
