Mantles are so hard to get
Most of the elder dragon armor seems to need "mantles" of a random unrelated monster. For instance the Teostra armor (which I really like the look of) needs an anjanath mantle and a fulger anjanath mantle. I looked it up and the drop rates for these are like 5% or something.

I killed the anjanath 5 times in a row with investigations that had the gold reward boxes, no luck.

I'm also told that you can meld them if you get a celestial wyvern print, but the only way to get that is the steam engine mini game?

I'm fairly new to the game please help!

That's pretty much how it is. The Steamworks can reward them randomly, or daily when a festival isn't active. Limited bounties can also reward them.

The thing above and also...
They do have like ~12% from golden investigations so its not THAT bad , just keep farming till you get them , that's what the game is about since the begining , unless you skipped the begining with defender.

I did not skip the beginning, but I waited almost a year after finishing the base game to buy iceborn and get back into it. So i'm badly out of practice.

Mantles are just the top rarity drop of that particular monster and yeah, sometimes the game is just gonna be like that.

If you have maxed out the recon level for that monster in your hunter notes you can also see what will give you extra drop chances for a mantle. In the case of Anja you get a small chance to get a mantle from breaking the face and when you try to carve the tail.

Regarding the prints, they are always the reward for completing the weekly limited bounties outside of a seasonal event. During an event the bounties are refreshed daily instead and the celestial print will instead show up every thursday and sunday, giving you two chances every week to get one.

You can trade Celestial Tickets for them. Since the Festival is happening you can get one ticket per daily reset. To do so, you need to see the notification that the Steamwork has reset. Then close the game. After that, disable wifi on your computer. Then play World in offline mode. The Festival reset will also reset the offline Steamworks. Sucks we can't do limited bounty offline.

I read the title and thought it was about the mantle equipment and was so confused.

Every new run I do I just rely on Celestial Tickets for those. Long as there's an event going on (most of the time) it's not that hard to luck out on steam machine x10 to get enough tickets to cover all your equipment needs.
