is multiplayer still a cheat/mod frenzy?

I wanted to play this game for real to replace black desert online but i cant take it seriously if everyone has mods like when i tried a couple years ago

Edit: Like you're here saying "Im not a cheater I only used mods to get crowns easier instead of spending time with RNG", ok you used a mod to get an achievement with an advantage over other players who don't use mods and that's going to show up on your guild card as an achievement that you used a mod to achieve

Who even plays this online. This is one of the worst co-op implementations I've seen in Monster Hunter, or any game really. My friends and I started playing and it's annoying how we can't even play together through the story. Well we can but it's so bad. Even Monster Hunter Freedom 2 back in the PSP days was much easier to co-op with.

to be honest, on steam you have to meet so many requierements like disabling overlay just to play online without instantly getting kicked out, what ended up me just playing solo
