I'm looking for a regular velkhana frostcraft GS build
Im currently hunting regular NON-AT velkhana to make a frostcraft GS build that i plan to use until i can replace it with the AT version.
Anyone got a good build? Preferrably without rare decos since i havent done much deco farming.
Also- is crit draw or a regular crit build better for frostcraft GS?

Frostcraft is a pretty fun signature ability on the normal Velk set if you aren't trying to play meta. Non-AT Velkhana unfortunately doesn't provide you with a bunch of offensive skills, so you will always have to work around that. Personally I'd say the head part is the easiest to replace with something else since headpieces tend to have the most impactful skills of their given set. The Rajang alpha head would provide you with two levels each of weakness exploit and handicraft. With Velkhana beta for the other 4 slots that gives you level 3 quick sheathe, level 2 critical draw, level 2 weakness exploit, level 2 handicraft and level 2 flinch free. It'll also provide you with 4 size 4 slots and 3 size 1 slots to max out WEx, critical draw and maybe get some extra points of handicraft if you can get your hands on it.

Everyone will tell you the classic weakness exploit, crit eye, agitator etc. But this depend a lot on your playstyle. For example having Evade extender for me on GS is a must or evade window if you prefer (or both). As teh weapon is mega slow this will increase your survivability. So only you can really decide what mods you want cause everyone will jsut give you the meta.

As for Crit draw vs crit eye taht depends of your playstyle. If you spam TCS crit eye may be better. If you just run and draw attack then crit draw is better. Having both is a bit unnecessary imo but crit draw is a cool thing to have in multiplayer when those pepegas spam 20 billion bombs on the monster head and you can't aimt so you just crit draw it...

If you're trying to build an elemental GS for alatreon honestly give up man. Unless you're a god gamer, trying to topple with a gs is nearly impossible at this stage of the game. The armors you ahve access to jsut don't have enough space to fit everything you need to make decent elemental dmg. If you look around (and by reading your message i already know you did) everyone and their mom tells you to use fatalis gear against alatreon ... Or some gear that you don't have access to yet...

I also reached alatreon with a GS and decided i cba punching against a wall and changed to another weapon. GS is honestly not a good pick until much later when you get better gear for this fight as stupid as it sounds.

crit draw vs reg depends primarily on your match-up. Some fights, especially in solo, are easy to "script" and you'll probably not want crit draw for these. Ones where you're not as comfortable with the fight, crit draw will shine better.

Furious Raj can be approached by a GS who struggles normally with much more ease with crit draw, for example. Same with Tigrex and Barioth. These fights are often judged as the more chaotic monsters to hunt by people who don't have a lot of hunts down on them, especially with GS. Crit draw lets you play more cautiously while still doing enough DPS that you'll not feel like the fight is exhausting your mind and nerves.

To me the best part about frostraft is how extremely well it works with crit draw GS, it revived the playstyle for me and made it feel powerful again (still not as powerful as going for TCS but the gap is much smaller). I also really liked making builds with it because of how much versitility it allowed. In the past you had to stack offensive skills on top of crit draw to get any satisfying damage out of it. Frostcraft is so strong it makes up. All you really need is crit draw, frostcraft and focus. That's your core, everything else is a cherry on top. Want even more damage? Add crit boost. Want to add more stun to the build? You can mix with barioth armor pieces to add punishing draw. Want a comfy and safe build? Earplugs, quick sheathe, stun resistance. You have so much free room to do whatever you want with it.
Thanks for the tips!

Im ended up running the set with barioth head for evade extender. Super comfy hunts, but damage feels like it could be way higher so im now aiming for crit boost + handicraft
