Online sessions dead or nah?

Title says it all. I'll admit I'm pretty new to the world of MH having only played a bit of Rise and now World but I'm still confused. I thought one of the main selling points of this series was hunting with others. But it seems like whether you're sending an S.O.S flare or just completing a simple story mission you always wind up playing alone no matter how long you wait. Picked up the $25.00 bundle and having a blast myself with this game, I'm just confused why the multiplayer scene seems to be a ghost town. Maybe there's something I'm missing? IDK...

The match making system deliberately separates Low/High rank games from master rank searches by default. This is a mixed blessing. Master rank hunters will absolutely trash low level hunts without even trying, the difference in gear is too huge. The high level palicos are so powerful they'll solo the hunt and ruin the fun of showing all the cool things a hunter(or the palicos!) can do.

Master rank hunts are loaded with players.

The only time I play with someone in my sessions is for raid (Safi, Kulve).
Your sessions only contain 16 people max, but most of the time it's like 5-10 tho and what are the odd of 1 of those people will want to do the same quest as you?

But SOS draw from a much bigger people pools so if you really to hunt with someone this is your go to method or you can bring some friend yourself.

Theres also the issue with Steam Region locks.
Set your download region to the US or SEA or Japan, you'll see more people

There's like 60-100k players online at peak, it's about as far from a ghost town as you can get

definitely jump in when you can before Capcom starts pushing Rise and everyone migrates.
Rise/Sunbreak sold way less, so expect a push for more sells sometime in 2024.

Via google:
Start Steam.
Go to. Steam. > Settings. > ...
Under. Download region. , select the region that you are in or that is closest to you.
You can also try various regions near your location to see if a better connection is available

If you are at Low Rank, then you won't get many responding since most people rush to High Rank.

Sadly that's is how the game is. It is touted as a full on multiplayer experience but the game is so old everyone is playing solo or only very endgame missions. You will be hard pressed to find people playing the low rank missions.

Im new and started few days ago. Never had problems with SOS pretty much always someone joined me. just finished main story and started icebrake

You can clear low rank pretty fast though. There's 3 ranks (low, high, master). Most are in high or master.
