okay what am I doing wrong here? Using water element weapon, check! Traps, check! What am I doing wrong?
and btw I'm not getting my rations from raw meat. Checked the box and inventory, they are nowhere to be seen.
If you haven't already, bring mega potions. Spending less time healing means more time attacking.
And not sure what weapon you're using, but mainly bows, dual blades, and some charge blades care about elements. Everything else aims for whatever simply hits the hardest. Find the best combination of damage, affinity, sharpness, and (later on) decoration slots.
Any monster you fight in a transition tunnels between main areas will make them run away in 30-60 seconds. So there are times where you just have to wait for the monster to reach a proper area to start a fight.
I'm using Aqua slasher 1 with 576 damage.
I have frequently heard, though, that greatsword is a weapon that work particularly well for those that know monster's moves inside and out. Since you're still fresh to the game, it really doesn't sound like an ideal matchup.
Done, changed the weapon to bow. I don't really liked to stroke my weapon in the middle of the fight every minute as well.
Though, the thing happened again. Cooked raw meat to get rations, yet they are nowhere to be seen in both the box and inventory. Is this a known unresolved bug or something? Where are my rations? I've cooked them a lot. I've only used quest given rations so far. Am I cooking them for the handler or what?
Despite being a baby, Anjananth is one of the taller monsters and the squishy parts are tough for most weapons to reach. Ranged weapons work great, but the larger weapons like lance will have better reach.
Btw I suggest cooking blue mushrooms for both rations and nutrients(Increases max hp for the mission until +50 base hp(Stacks with the hp up skill)).
I assume you are on low/high ranks, these are the hitzone values https://monsterhunterworld.wiki.fextralife.com/file/Monster-Hunter-World/hr_anjanath_hzv.png
You can do great physical damage the closer the part is to 80, and for elemental the closer it is to 30.
Legs are not that good but they break and it will fall giving you an opening. They are also safer than head if that’s giving you trouble.
Elemental damage is not that efficient on slow weapons, can you make a another greatsword with more raw damage (there might be a better option but maybe not)?
What is killing you? Is it fire damage? Is it physical damage? Is you being committed to a long attack? Try to see what re the mistakes you are making and plan your moves. Greatsword is rewards good position more than any weapon.
If you don’t know the monster, don’t go for the strongest greatsword attacks. They take too long and you won’t be able to aim properly if you don’t know how the monster moves. You probably don’t have focus yet so the charge time takes longer also.
If you can crack this out, the rest of the game will become much easier. Give it time, greatsword requires patience but is a lot of fun.
If you can't beat it solo, it's fine. I played a lot of my first matches in MP, including the story stuff.
You do want to get more skilled though and learn the monsters, Which you can do in MP. You do need to be effective in MP though, too.
gotta understand, in master. These monsters become insane sometimes. Many don't scale too high an become irrelevant, but the one's that do can be pretty tough and give no chance to recover.
(Rise is pretty much the only MH game where every monster is relevant the whole game. As it has a scaling system in place.)
If you didn't already, I suggest you go to the training ground and try every weapons, see what they can do, or watch some guides online. Pretty much every weapons have "hidden" moves or attacks that have unique properties. Knowing all your moves and how to properly use them will definitely turn the battle around !
If you still don't know what to pick or don't have a favorite however, i suggest using the lance or the gunlance against the anjanath, their mostly defensive moveset and good range will alow you to hold your ground against most of it's attacks and punishing him rather easily. If it's not your style, you can't go wrong with sword and shield or ranged weapons.
And if you need the help of other hunters to do it, don't be afraid to call for help, the sos flare is here for a reason. As others said however, the anjanath is the first wall of the game, and it will only get harder from there, so don't take to much advantage of their help, observe the monster and try to solo it afterward.
