World bring in so many new MH fans, it comes as a blessing and a curse. Lets just hope Capcom puts a stop to this modding non sense, and if that gets people to quit. So be it.
You should try modding, you'd probably really enjoy it.

Guys, just letting you know. If you somehow felt like your copy of MH World was somehow worse today, like you were having less fun and that the game somehow got a bit worse, sorry it was me!

I downloaded some mods yesterday to make my own game just a bit better looking! Yes, yes I know you all said and lamented how doing this makes the game worse for you... but I just couldn't resist man! Those higher fidelity pots were just too good to pass up! So I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask you to endure your game being slightly worse due to me having better looking pots now. Thanks! :mhwhappy:

Which part?

That it hurts their sales? They sell cosmetic DLC. That means cosmetic mods are in direct competition with their paid products.

That it hurts their reputation? Just look at the recent Street Fighter tournament, where the person providing their system for use forgot to turn off their nude mods, and it was broadcast live.

The percentages? Nexus mods.
The cosmetic part is false. The mods are new additions. Capcom isn't making or losing money over this. They aren't even selling a lot of layered armor sets for World, and they are unobtainable unless you pre-ordered or bought a specific edition. There is no correlation or competition.

Reputation part shouldn't concern Capcom. The guy who used the mod should care about HIS reputation. A corporation is not responsible for how its product is used. A knife can be a good tool or a murder weapon. You can't blame the manufacturer, regardless. You can only blame the deranged person who used it in such a way.

For the percentage part, wait around 10 hours. Once I sleep and wake up, I'll count each and every mod, categorize them and add that information to the modding guide*. I'm not going to do it out of spite or anything, by the way. I'm curious as well. And it was about time I checked the entire database once more to finally find the last few mods that had escaped my eyes the previous six times.

*percentages included

PS: Currently, there are 226 pages of mods, with 20 mods per page.
There are HOW MANY paid DLC skins are there for the Handler alone?

It matters a lot to companies. Look how Nintendo treats adult content using their characters. Look at how the owners of Tomb Raider came down on adult content using Laura Croft around the time the second Tomb Raider movie released. Even Team Darkside, after getting copyright struck by Capcom for their modded videos, acknowledged that they could understand why Capcom would take actions against mods that hurt Capcom's reputation, aka lewd mods.

Keep in mind, I said "cosmetic + cheese" = over xx%. This is a combination, a rough estimate, and there will be some wiggle room based on what each of us consider cheese. For example, a lot of people who cheat will claim that putting all items in the shop is just "a quality of life" improvement, but it is nothing more than a grind cheese.

I have spent MORE time playing this game because of armor mods than I otherwise would have since there's more reason for me to go grind out armor sets/layered sets I never would've used or bothered with

Mods is a staple of the PC platform. If CAPCOM can't abide that, maybe they shouldn't try to sell games to PC gamers.

wait a fail take.

Developers can design what they want, and set the rules to what we can do.

We don't own the games they release, PC gamers don't get to set the terms. The level of ego to think that.

Well you do own the game. I mean... YOU purchased it. Its on your computer the files are right there

That's also "your problem" bruh...

No, it's totally not my problem. I'm totally for banning all cheaters and if that contains all modders, then I'm also totally for banning all modding. If Capcom does this in the future then this is "popcorn-kino" for me.
What a childish take

Hopefully they start saving characters online.

Had about 5 cheater lobbies today with kulve siege, this return to world has brought back alot of cheaters it seems...

That's also a competitive sport....monster hunter isn't competitive...
It is, but their last statement already concludes that it doesn't affect the common folks like us
That's fair.

Modding is much more than cheesing a grind. What an intellectually dishonest approach to the conversation
Mods are 99% fashion (which hurts Capcoms sales and reputation) or grind cheesing. Their argument isn't being dishonest, but your ad hominem is.

A look on nexus mods shows the "ALL Items In Shop" Mod has 664,000 downloads. I don't think that's 1%.

All right, I've seen enough comments and I'm ready to put in my two cents.

Mods are important for a healthy and thriving community. There's only so much you can do with a vanilla game until it becomes stale to people. That's why modders make harder versions of the bosses, for those that want a challenge beyond what the game is giving them. There's also choices such as unskippable cutscenes as well as clagger which the developers stupidly added to the game that a lot of people have pushed back on. There is absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying sexual content in your game. The only reason that the whole street fighter thing even happened is because the tournament didn't do their job. When you used lewd or nude mods, it is not seen by anyone but yourself.

I myself don't use mods because I think they're annoying, however I do understand the potential and importance to them, especially if you want a thriving community. Just look at Hollow Knight for instance. They embraced mods and look where they are. So many people making so many skins and continually coming back to the game because the developers allow the players to change the game to their own design.

For the people against mods, I don't think you understand mods whatsoever. I don't think you understand how important they really are.

As for the people that cheat or use DPS, these people are few and far. Everytime I play online, I'd say I get 1 of those 1 hit players once in a blue moon. As for the DPS check thing, if you're bent out of shape out of someone telling you to get good, you're giving them that power over you. You really don't have to let it affect you, but you choose to. I honestly appreciate when there's a DPS guy. I'll immediately ask him what I got when I find out because I think it's fun. Like I said, it's all what power you give to people and it's your mindset and I think you people against mods have a very skewed perspective on them.
Agreed with this statement.
I mean, how else would World have continued on PC without mods? Like adding in new monsters, albeit mostly reskins
Laughing kookaburra 31 DIC 2023 a las 12:41 a. m.
bro i'm not buying any single player games that bans modding, i ain't playing MH wild if they block mods, i don't want to grind for 300 hours just to unlocking layer armor and still looking at my ugly ass character after that.
Powercrank 31 DIC 2023 a las 1:04 a. m.
even without mods, it is VERY easy to use video editing to make a game look terrible or like it has something ridiculous in it. Are companies going to start going after any random video that could possibly be "misleading" and "damaging to their IP"? because in that case, i think they just found a fantastic new way to get rid of reviews they don't like. Remember, when it comes to corporations, slippery slope isn't a fallacy - it's a business strategy.

"it affects multiplayer" -another BS argument. Plenty of games in the past have allowed mods offline but not online. Plenty have even allowed cosmetic mods online, but not those that actually affect gameplay. Even MMORPGs like black desert online are like this. Getting rid of mods also wouldn't stop hackers in the slightest. Adding a functional anti cheat system would objectively be a better solution.
