I downloaded some mods yesterday to make my own game just a bit better looking! Yes, yes I know you all said and lamented how doing this makes the game worse for you... but I just couldn't resist man! Those higher fidelity pots were just too good to pass up! So I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask you to endure your game being slightly worse due to me having better looking pots now. Thanks!
It matters a lot to companies. Look how Nintendo treats adult content using their characters. Look at how the owners of Tomb Raider came down on adult content using Laura Croft around the time the second Tomb Raider movie released. Even Team Darkside, after getting copyright struck by Capcom for their modded videos, acknowledged that they could understand why Capcom would take actions against mods that hurt Capcom's reputation, aka lewd mods.
Keep in mind, I said "cosmetic + cheese" = over xx%. This is a combination, a rough estimate, and there will be some wiggle room based on what each of us consider cheese. For example, a lot of people who cheat will claim that putting all items in the shop is just "a quality of life" improvement, but it is nothing more than a grind cheese.
Well you do own the game. I mean... YOU purchased it. Its on your computer the files are right there
A look on nexus mods shows the "ALL Items In Shop" Mod has 664,000 downloads. I don't think that's 1%.
I mean, how else would World have continued on PC without mods? Like adding in new monsters, albeit mostly reskins
"it affects multiplayer" -another BS argument. Plenty of games in the past have allowed mods offline but not online. Plenty have even allowed cosmetic mods online, but not those that actually affect gameplay. Even MMORPGs like black desert online are like this. Getting rid of mods also wouldn't stop hackers in the slightest. Adding a functional anti cheat system would objectively be a better solution.
