What does dps check mean?
Ok, I've heard this a few times. I googled it but I found no answer.

on alatreon you have to deal a certain amount of elemental damage to weaken his nova. That is what they are talking about.

A minimum amount of damage in a set period of time. The related term is "vibe check" which means withstanding or evading a minimum amount of a damage although that ones more common on the official tournament circuit.

In mmorpgs this is a common thing in hard mode versions of some dungeons or raids
If you dont manage to deal a certain ammount of damage in a certain time limit, then the boss would go into a rage mode like state and oneshot everyone or a doomsday like attack would be used

With Alatreon the second scenario is the case more or less
If you dont deal enough damage and defuse the nuke, you have to suffer the fully powered Nova
