I've seen a good amount of people new to the MH series because of World go back to the old games and actually thoroughly enjoy them, I really don't think there's going to be no new players willing to try out an older MH and end up liking it in the process, that's just unreasonable thinking. Either way, bringing older MH games officially to PC would be more for the veterans who made the switch to PC for the mods and stuff, so It truly doesn't matter If It's a huge success with the new players
But they wouldn't be wasting time, they have a team that could do this. They said that they would be hiring newer people to train to work on the next MH, so that leads me to assume that they won't be training the Frontier team that they already have in their employ to work on the next gen MH games, but Instead to work on other things. The only thing they would be "wasting" here are resources
The Frontier team became apart of the portable team, or at least most of them did. Besides, I never quite said I agreed on the idea of them porting older MH games, I was taking a pretty neutral stance and refuting things that I saw as wrong. I really just want new classic MH games with a better UI, I guess one could do that with a port and mods, but a port is not truly what I'm looking for.
There is just no business case.
While it is true that a good game is not necessarily one with good graphics, good graphics and high frame rate is still a criteria for PC gamers.
Translating console controls to k&m is another piece of work especially when there will be button prompts.
Gamers also expect more than just a port. So, Capcom will need to do more than just make the same games without changing anything but the platform.
Then, there is the question of how many people will buy the games and at what price. Would people be willing to pay $30 to $60 for them and would they be worth the effort and manpower compared to simply making the next MH game?
So, while nostalgia will compell MH fans to think they want this, in reality, it's very unlikely to be profitable or done by Capcom.
That sounds like a case of "You think you do, but you don't" I don't think It's people thinking that they do but they don't, It's more like people not knowing exactly what they want. I'm telling you, a new classic style MH with monsters and areas from Frontier, with the Frontier weapons and maybe even the Accel Axe, the Accel Axe would take some work though, they could also even recreate monsters from World in it. Anyways, I'm pretty sure anyone who's interested in the older MH games would love a game like that.
