thanks to @kampfer91, I am now aware that alatron despite seemly having good hitzones nearly everywhere, it does not apply to elemetal damage

now that you have said it, I primaly targeted his back legs, since I stayed under him and made sure the the sheild faced his front roughly. does elemental damage gets reduced when hitting back legs?

Unfortunately , yes , it is 3rd weakspot to element , you probably only deal half damage compare to the damage you can deal to the front leg .

So , i read this post of your and decided to challenge myself with a fresh made Alatreon gunlance with no Augment , only 3 slots so i can only use Health augment , also use 2 piece of velk and 3 piece safi to get the crit element , no dragon jewel too since the mixed set lack slot for the skill i needed .

This GL only have 600 dragon yet it toppled Ala 4 times ! Only topple it after it went into dragon mode and it time a bit longer than my CB run and only 1 horn break but what matter is i could reach the Elemental damage check without 900 dragon .

was thinking about rate of hits once more, did you use primarily pokes or the slap combo? that could make a difference since I primarily use the latter. also where you hit him often?

if you are failing to meet his damage check before with ludicrous high elemental dmg before, try shifting your targeting to his face/front legs

Yeah, front leg is just very resistant to elemental damage, as opposed to completely immune to it like the back legs.
