is it mechanically possible to beat Alatreon with raw damage?

was talking with my bros about making myself a build to fight alatreon, and one of them said that he will beat him with raw damage. no element. ive never fought him, but i know you need elemental dps checks to win. would it even be possible to do that?

not without cheats, you cant survive the first nova in a legit try.
btw.. with elemental break the first nova deal "ONLY" 1000 damage in 5 sec. I dont now how much it is without elemental break, never tryed it.. you will voted out instant with a non-elemental weapon.

Maybe? If you do it solo and roll both Safeguard and insurance. I feel like it's probable but no hard answer.

You can by doing a lot of DMG during the dragon phase by breaking his horns, but it's hard >.<

Just make 2 elemental builds, it's WAY easier

I might be wrong, but didn't TDS do a video a long time ago of 4 players surviving the full power nova with (more or less) perfectly timed Astera jerky and speed eating? I might be wrong on this.

Even if they did. It was still a very coordinated 4 man lobby. Solo, probably not possible.

In solo? Absolutely. The average player could do it with raw but will eat a few novas along the way. With Insurance and Safeguard you can brute force the fight. There are speedrunners like Deva who killed it in 1'44'' using pierce 3 HBG.

In a group is the tricky part since 1 nova = instant party wipe. However, it can still be done. TDS did a video where they were able to survive the nuke via perfect timing with healing. Also there's the Gunlance + Snowman exploit that allowed Deva and their team to kill Alatreon in like 31 seconds.

tl;dr
Solo - Yes, very attainable
Multiplayer - Only with God tier teamwork.

Yes, not without carts though, but if your dps is high enough you can kill him before he gets to do EJ 3 times. If you eat for insurance or safeguard you get even more time

The only times I've tried alatreon has been in pubs, and I don't think any of the teams have lasted long enough to even see a nova.

Some groups would get super upset or negative, that I eventually stopped trying.

Good to know there's a way to solo him.

exactly this, was watching some info about a fatalis% speed run earlier today and even in that, they go raw, eat a nova faint then finish the job

Either you are a troll or you don't know what you are talking about at all.

EJ (Escaton judgement, i.e. nova) does 1000 in 5s only WITHOUT elemental check, first one drops it just to 280 in 5s. Which is just 2 astera jerky uses to survive and then heal back to full.

Now back to the topic of beating Alatreon if going full raw:

In solo treat your remaining lives as your timer. EJ happens every ~6-7 minutes, so you have ~18-35 minutes (Depending on if you get felyne insurance and\or safeguard) to deal with 52.5k health, assuming you don't cart to anything other than EJ.

In MP - depends on what team you have it's either a non-factor or death sentence. Experienced teams can kill Alatreon pre-EJ, not experienced will have to rely on safeguard + insurance, but still doable - unless a cart happens outside of EJ & person who carted comes back before EJ, then it's game over.

It is entirely possible, but in solo ideally.

If you get a food insurance, you can get 4 carts. which means that if you don't die outside of Escaton Judgement, you have until the 4th one to kill him.

It's far more enough time to kill him, if you do know the boss patterns and manage to not die early to boss attacks.

On some weapons & certain conditions, you can also kill him before the first Escaton, but this is pure speedrunning strats most of the time.

If i recall, i managed to kill him before 2nd escaton in a duo composition, so even if we carted on escaton it would have been fine.
